I see the inconvenience of inconsistent template, Small business NJ. Let me share a way to resolve the issue and ensure you can get back to work in time.
Any customer you add using QuickBooks Online on the web will sync in the app. Since half of them don't show up, we can perform some troubleshooting according to your device.
Here are the steps for iOS:
For Android, follow the steps below:
Additionally, you can clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online. It will help us verify if there's a sync delay with your template or if the error relates to the webpage issue.
Moreover, the changes in the template depend on your QuickBooks version and whether you have the new or old estimate experience. If you're subscribed to Simple Start and enabled progress invoicing, you won't be able to use the new experience. Thus, you're prompted to an old template design when previewing. Otherwise, you'll need to migrate if you're utilizing other versions since classic invoicing will be deprecated.
Furthermore, I would appreciate more information to get me on the same page. Can you share a screenshot of the estimate and invoice you're working on? Please also know that QuickBooks creates a default progress invoicing template once this feature is enabled. With this, I'd like to clarify if you changed the progress invoicing template to Standard.

Hello and thank you for your support. However, my issue is still not resolved. I work 90% on the app. I add customers, create estimates and send invoices from my phone. When I go to create an estimate, the customers only go up to the letter “J”. So I have to manually go into my customer list and then create an estimate from there. Also, progress invoices is turned off and it’s still saying I’m using an old template so I can not view. I’m getting fed up for the money we pay. Convenience is the complete opposite this app has to offer.
I know that this hasn't been easy for you, Small business NJ.

Yes, I absolutely am.
We use our Quickbooks online via desktop. They changed the Estimates template today. We now can't duplicate an estimate without manually rewriting it from scratch! Where did the copy button go? This is NOT making it better.
Thanks for becoming part of the Community and getting involved with this thread, DJaxn.
You can still duplicate estimates and invoices with your new layout. Instead of "Duplicate", the option is now titled "Make a copy".
Here's how to make a duplicate of an existing estimate:
I've also included a few detailed resources about working with estimates which may come in handy moving forward:

Yep! I can't even locate my own estimate or invoice template to use! Where did they go? it keeps telling me I am using an old template in an estimate that was already created using my own template! what the heck? I don't like this and its super inconvenient!
It’s Terrible!!!! I’ve called customer service, they’ve logged into my account and still no solution! I’m using an “Old Template” which I’m not! I’ve changed it via desktop online AND it is still keeping my estimate template the same on the app and online (making my default an old version
I’m in the same boat! I’m to the point where I’d rather hire a bookkeeper for our business and just do invoices through Square. I don’t know any other solutions at this point. It’s so frustrating!
Your updates are a complete waste of everyone's time, Stop f u c kng up everyone's business operation with these unnecessary changes.

What is going on. This changed for me last week and I use the desk top version. This is horrible. How do I change it back? I use to be able to go back and fourth from estimate to invoice and vis versa but now I don't have that option. They are no longer linked together. The invoice isn't even linked to the estimate but when i go into the estimate the invoice is listed but I cant click on it to view the original estimate it only gives me the option to remove it. How do I change back to the original version I had previously and why did this all change?

It’s awful!!! I wish they would
listen and read their customers complaints.
Hello, everyone.
I recognize how the new layout affects your experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let me provide additional insights about this matter.
Beginning May 6, 2024, QuickBooks migrated all users to the new invoice and estimate interface. There'll be no option to switch back to the old layout. This update aims to improve the back-end technology and enhance the customer experience with more features and faster development. While some old features may not be available, the new version offers improved functionality and customization options.
To help you familiarize with the new layout, check out this article: See what's new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.
Regarding your concern, to view the original estimate link to an invoice, you can follow these steps:
On the other hand, you can get back to your invoice from the estimate by clicking on the Linked invoices on the right panel.
Furthermore, check this article to help you personalize your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts.
You are always welcome to revisit this page if you have additional questions or concerns about accessing your sales forms. We got you covered.
Okay thanks for showing me where you moved the duplicate invoice to, although it was fine just where it is, BUT PLEASE, now I can't figure out how to convert an estimate to a purchase order. This is incredibly important to how we do business! Please advise!!
agreed
I appreciate you for returning to this thread and providing an update about your concern, @DJaxn. Let me impart a few details about this.
Currently, the feature to convert estimates to purchase orders in the new layout is unavailable. For now, I suggest manually creating purchase orders. Additionally, starting from May 6, 2024, QuickBooks has transitioned all users to the new invoice and estimate interface, and it'll not be possible to revert to the old layout.
To learn more about the new estimates and invoice layout, check this article: See what's new with estimates and invoices
I understand the importance of converting estimates to purchase orders in QuickBooks Online (QBO). While this option is unavailable, I recommend submitting a feature request directly to our Developers so they might consider this suggestion to improve your experience with the program.

Yes! Its awful! I used QuickBooks for years with zero issues and all the sudden it’s non stop over the past year or so! The worst is that the new format has no option to simply add a comment or space through the app version. Even worse the app version and online version don’t sync. I know of dozens of people frustrated and ready to switch to another option other than QuickBooks if they can’t get the mobile app back to what it was.
I was having issues with my online app after I was forced to switch from Desktop to Online because there was no Desktop anymore! So I switched and spent 12 hours so far on with support! That time does include the migration and set up but that's ridiculous! After all of the issues I was having you know what I was told??? DON'T USE THE ONLINE APP! HUH??? I was told to log into "qbo.intuit.com" and stop using the online app! So what are we paying for? I still have an ongoing issue with creating new templates for Estimates (PROPOSALS). It comes up as a template but it shows a blank screen when I choose one of the templates I created! It will only allow me to use the Estimate template that is on there under "Modern"... I've tried many different things but I'm getting heated dealing with constant issues withbthis program! Oh, and come to find out, I didn't need to switch to Online, I could have stayed on Desktop by switching to QB Enterprise! The "sales team" never gave me that option! I found out about the Enterprise from a letter I received a week after I changed to Online! It's a scam! The program sucks!
YES! this last year to year and a half of constant template and format changes has no exaggeration cost me 10’s of thousands in lost time and invoicing mishaps. Thats not to include lost multi million dollar project due to QuickBooks out of no where crashing or changing the format and me not being able to get an estimate out by the deadline required. The mobile app was working fantastic for years! On the go invoicing and estimating was great. Who ever is in charge of their tech and updates needs to be fired. I’ve discussed this issue with countless business associates as well as friends who feel the same. We all felt it would be quickly resolved but at this point it may be time to switch to another company.
It’s ridiculous! I’d make a long detailed grip right now but that would be me just dumping more of my valuable time into QuickBooks. I’ve lost 10’s of thousands already in lost projects and time as it is. It’s simple QuickBooks. FIRE who ever has been handling your tech and design of you format and go back to how it was a year or two ago especially the mobile app. I speak for countless people when I say your about to loose your clientele if this doesn’t sort out quickly.
Agreed. So tire of unless changes. Actively, looking for something better.
