Hi - Knowing which transactions have the supporting documentation is a basic yet very important feature. In actual accounting everything boils down to the source documents. If you don't have supporting documentation then you can't prove the validity of a transaction. So being able to run a report or even seeing in the register which transactions have an attachment is critical. Even Quicken can do this! I have seen this question been asked numerous times. The document center is not enough, we need to be able to QUICKLY see which transactions are missing supporting documentation without having to open individual transactions to see if the icon at the top shows an attachment or not. The system already knows which transactions have an attachment so why can't we just run a report that indicates an attachment exist or doesn't exist for each transaction. Quicken uses a simple icon beside each transaction to indicate this. A program like Quicken has this feature and corporate systems like SAP and Oracle have this ability so Quickbooks should too. Apparently QB Online has this ability so Intuit already knows the importance of this feature, why is it not in the Quickbooks Desktop Premier 2019 version?
Thanks.
Hi vtkelley,
The option to run a report with an attachment icon is currently not available in QuickBooks. I recommend submitting this as feedback to our engineers. I'll personally send this suggestion to them as well.
Here's how to send one:
I'll be around to help you if you have additional questions.
Has there been any update to this discussion? I have to go back and attach invoices to all of the bills that don't have them and other than going through each vendor screen to see which bills have attachments I can't find a report that gives the attachment column as an option.
Thanks,
Angela

IIn regards to QBooks online, how can I see quickly on the register which transactions have attachments?
Hello BobbiB1,
We can add customize the columns in your register to see the transactions with attachments. Here's how to do it:
That should refresh your register to display the Attachments.
Keep us posted if you need anything else. Have a great day!
Is there any update to this for QB Desktop?
Hello there, @Dswain1.
Currently, the ability to run reports with attachments in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) isn't available. I know you've been waiting for the availability of this feature, and like you, I'm also anticipating this option as viewing reports with attachments without going to each transaction is a great convenience for businesses like yours.
Also, please note that future feature releases will have to undergo extensive measures and trials to validate their usage and effectiveness before being implemented.
With this, I'd recommend sending your feedback to our Product Developers if you haven't so you'll be added to the list of users who want this feature to be available. Also, once an update regarding this will be released, you will be one of the first ones to know since you'll be notified through email.
Here's how:
Moreover, feel free to browse through this article that I got for you to guide you in customizing your reports and focus on the data that matters the most to you: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
Should you have additional questions about managing your reports in QBDT, please don't hesitate to reply to this post. I'll be willing to lend a hand. Have a good one.
