Bank balance not QuickBooks balance

I know a way how to find our bank balance for a certain date in QuickBooks Online (QBO), mq_123.

We can run the Transaction Detail by Account report and modify it to a specific period. This way, QuickBooks will generate bank balances with the transactions and dates associated with it. The total amount only shows in the Amount column. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Reports on the left panel.
  2. In the search box, enter Transaction Detail by Account. Then, click the Customize button at the upper-right corner.
  3. In the Rows/Columns section, include the BalanceTransaction TypeAmount, and DateNote: You can change the columns or add more if you want.
  4. In the Filter section, put a checkmark of the Distribution Account.
  5. Click the drop-down arrow and tick all the accounts you want to display on the report.
  6. Then, hit Run report and ensure to set the correct dates.

If you'd like to get the total amount of the balance, just export it to Excel. From there, we can manually calculate the total balance of the particular account. Click the Export icon and select Export to Excel. That will do. Let's see this sample screenshot:

Once done, run a Reconciliation report to see reconciled discrepancies. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports tab.
  2. In the Search box, type in Reconciliation Report.
  3. Choose the account you want on the Account drop-down.
  4. You can also filter the Report Period.
  5. Once done filtering, select the View Report.

Then review your transactions and choose to print the report.
