Buy nowI'm fairly new at this and need a little guidance with Billable Expense Income. The expense was for software that owner bought for a client. Expense for product is categorized under expenses in quickbooks. Client was sent invoice and has paid it. The person that was doing the owners books before me was doing a journal entry to basically wipe out the Billable Expense Income. Is that correct or is the Billable Expense Income supposed to show up as income on profit & loss report and then the deduction in expense categories takes care of it? I'm just not sure how it should be done. Thank you
I am on the same boat, my P&L is showing an amount on Billable Expense income. I found that it was coming from an invoice that was created with FREIGHT charge on it. Freight was set up as billable expense income.
what would be the correct categorization of freight? I know it should be included as part of Revenue but do I have to separate it? Please help. An explain how to correctly use this account--Billable Expense Income. TIA
Billable expense income is just a setting that you're able to turn on and off based on whether you want to see billable expense income as a separate line item on your P&L. If you don't want it separated on your P&L, go to Gear Icon > Accounts and settings > Expenses > Edit (next to Bills and expenses) > uncheck Track billable expenses and items as income. It seems odd to create a journal entry to close out billable expense income unless there is a specific reason they needed to divide it between multiple separate income accounts because if you're just using a journal entry to move it to your regular income account, you can just turn it off.
