Bulk classifying imported transactions in the Bank Feeds Center

Sorry if this is answered and I couldn’t find it. I have 1600 imported transactions to my AMEX in the Bank Feeds Center. A few were automatically changed, and a few more changes by rules. But the majority are left for me to review. My question is whether there is a way to select multiple transactions at once, and then classify them all as, for example, Travel:Airfare. Then do likewise for Meals & Entertainment, Office Supplies, etc. I currently am tabbing across to each one and categorizing it and it is quite tedious. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Bulk classifying imported transactions in the Bank Feeds Center

Hi there, Sodajosh.

Please know that QuickBooks Desktop is only dependent on the transactions that were transmitted from your financial institution

Also, categorizing transactions in bulk to a certain account is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop.

For more details about the customer workflow, Bank Feeds, and matching transactions, you can read these articles:

Bulk classifying imported transactions in the Bank Feeds Center

I had 2019 Quickbooks Accountant previously and I used to be able to select multiple transactions at a time and then categorize them all. I was forced to upgrade to 2022 Quickbooks and no longer saw an Accountant option and now that feature is gone as well. Was just wondering if there was a way to still do this.

For instance, most, but not all of my transactions at Best Buy are related to Equipment, but some are related to Office Supplies. I don’t want a rule to automatically call Best Buy purchases Equipment because it isn’t the case all the time. But I can tell by the amount if it is a specific purchase that I make repeatedly and it would be nice to select all of those transactions at once and categorize them to Equipment like I used to be able to do.

I previously had 2019 Quickbooks Accountant for desktop and I was forced to upgrade to 2022. I couldn’t find an Accountant version and now I also cannot find the feature that allows me to check off multiple transactions manually and then categorize them. I don’t necessarily want a rule for this because it isn’t a 100% of the time type transaction. But it’s apparently no longer available in this edition?

Bulk classifying imported transactions in the Bank Feeds Center

Hello there, Custom Tag.

I understand that you want to bulk classify imported transactions and download the accountant version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Downloading the accountant version will depend on your QBDT subscription. You can either go to the Downloads & Updates page to get the download link for your version of QuickBooks. Or as an accountant, you can log in to CAMPS to download your software.

Classifying transactions from the Bank Feeds can be done manually and you have to check multiple entries. If you don't have this option, make sure your bank account is connected to online banking.

  1. Go to Banking, then Bank Feeds Center.
  2. Choose the bank where transactions are imported.
  3. Review and classify your bank transactions.

However, if you mean to use the Reclassify Transactions tool, this feature is available in QBDT Accountant, Enterprise, or Accountant Enterprise. Check out this article to learn more about this: Reclassify your client’s transactions using the Accountant tools.

Stay in touch with me if there's anything else you need. I'll be right here whenever you have follow-up questions.

@Sodajosh

Are you using QB Desktop  2022 Pro/Premier or QB Desktop 2022 Accountant?

You can still purchase a one time license for QB Desktop 2022 Accountant until next month if required.
