business overview shows no sales numbers

Hi,

I just signed up for QBO SS plan and linked my bank account and categorized the transactions. In Business Overview, I can see numbers/data for Cash Flow, Profit & Loss, Expenses, and Invoices. But the Sales one shows no numbers. Why is that happening?

Also, P/L shows by this year/last year, but Expenses and Sales by fiscal year. How do I get all of them to show the same as the drop-down values are not the same?

Thank you.

Thanks for becoming part of the Community, acmecorp.

You can sort your Profit & Loss, Expenses, and Sales information on the Business overview screen by using a section's Drop-Down Arrow (▼) icon.

For example, my Sales section is currently set to This week, and I can change it to This fiscal year, Last fiscal year, or any of the other available options.

If you aren't seeing any data in your Business overview's Sales section, I'd recommend checking the Sales screen to confirm if there was any data entered for the time period you selected.

Here's how:

  1. In your left navigation bar, go to Sales, then All sales.
  2. Use the Date drop-down list and select an appropriate period.
  3. Review your transaction list and verify if any sales data was entered into QuickBooks for the same time that isn't showing any data on your Business overview page.

Another thing to be aware of is the Business overview screen may vary from one user to another. This is because QuickBooks determines what information is displayed by each user's access rights.

In regard to your second question, you're seeing things correctly. The Profit & Loss section can be sorted by This year or Last year, where as your Sales and Expenses sections can be sorted by This fiscal year or Last fiscal year.

I can certainly understand how an ability to sort each section by the same timeframes could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon, then go to Feedback.
  2. Enter your suggestion(s) in the Have feedback? window.
  3. If necessary, attach a file with your Camera icon.
  4. Select Next.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

You also have the option of checking our QuickBooks App Store for apps which may be able to help you achieve what you're looking to accomplish.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Thursday!

Thank you for reaching the Community, @acmecorp. I'll share steps to ensure you're able to set your account to a Business overview.

In the Dashboard menu, you can select the Accountant view tab to see the business' performance.

Also, you can switch between Business and Accountant views anytime. Changing views doesn't affect your accounts or data. Instead of going to the Account and Settings page, you'll just have to click the Gear icon at the upper-right, and from the options, you can click Switch to Business view at the bottom, if you're currently seeing the Business view. You can use the screenshot below as a reference to where to locate it.

For more info about the difference between the Business and Accountant view in QuickBooks Online, you can click here.

Feel free to post again here if you have additional concerns about your clients not being able to see the Business Overview report. I'll be happy to assist you. Have a good one.
