Can additional custom data field be enabled in a customer record? I need to store spouse name, email, phone, etc. and the customer date of birth.

Or possibly an app that could be utilized export the QB customer data and maintain the additional data in a separate app?

Hello there, tmanok.

 

Being able to store additional customer information is a great option. It's a good thing that QuickBooks has this feature. I'll show you how you can add a custom field.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. From the Sales tab, select Customers.
  2. Click the customer's name that you want to modify.
  3. Go to the Customer Details tab.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Scroll down until you see the Custom fields section.
  6. Click the + add custom field hyperlink.
  7. Enter a Name for the field.
  8. Select a Data type.
  9. Click Save.

 

Then, repeat the same steps for the other data you want to include.

Thank you for your prompt response, however, there is no custom fields section displayed in the customer record after clicking Edit.  Is this subscription dependent?  I am using QuickBooks Plus.  Or is there a setting that needs to be enabled elsewhere to see the custom fields section?

The feature I shared above is available in QuickBooks Online Advanced. If you want to use the feature to have more flexibility in adding custom data and driving insights through detailed reports, I'd suggest upgrading your subscription.

Thanks again for the prompt response.  Unfortunately the solution of the Advanced is cost prohibitive for a non-profit organization and the additional features, other than custom fields, are not necessary.  I do find it interesting though that in viewing the comparison online of the two plans, the Advanced list of features does not include custom data fields as a feature.  Just a comment, reply is not necessary.  Thanks again!
