Can I access last year for bookkeeping?

Hello there, travis-eyeswild-.

Let's check your user access rights so you're able to see your bank account for bookkeeping from last year.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you have the option to enter a password as you closed your books. That way, only the account Admin can make changes to the transactions before this date. You have the option to choose the user's access rights. Check out this guide for details: User roles and access rights in QuickBooks Online.

Once access is verified, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Gear and then tap Accounts and Settings.
  2. Choose the Advanced tab.
  3. Tick the pencil icon in the Accounting section.
  4. Select the Close the books checkbox.
  5. Enter a closing date. Then, select the Allow changes after viewing a warning and entering a password option from the drop-down menu if you want to require a password before editing your closed books.
  6. Click Save and then Done.

To become more familiar with the whole process of closing books, here's an article for you: Close the books.

You can also run a Profit and Loss or Balance Sheet report from the Reports menu. Customize the Report period and the Accounting method to show the specific transactions. For more information about customizing, check out this article: How to Customize Financial Reports.

Know that you're always welcome to reply anytime if you have other questions or concerns with accessing your data. I'll be around for you. Have a fantastic day ahead.
