Can I apply a "class" to a bank transfer

At this time, the option to add class to a bank transfer isn't available. I understand how this would be beneficial for you and your business. With that said, I think this would be the perfect opportunity to send this suggestion to our Product Development Team. Our developers review each request and consider them all for future updates. On the other hand, you can create a journal entry if you wish to include a class or location. With journal entries, you can transfer money between income and expense accounts. Or, transfer money from asset, liability, or equity to any income and expense accounts. 

Here's how:

1. Go to the + New menu.
2. Select Journal entry.
3. Fill out the fields as necessary.
4. When finished, press Save and close.

If you need some help to know what accounts to use, I suggest consulting with your accountant or bookkeeper. That way, they can ensure that your books remain accurate after you create the journal entry. If you don't have an accountant, don't sweat it. You can find one here in our Resource Center.

That's weird. QuickBooks Desktop has had this capability for many years. I guess that's because it's important to customers, and Desktop is in the habit of adding features that are important to customers. Unlike QuickBooks Online which, recently at least, is in the habit of removing them. Weird, huh?
