Get 50% OFF QuickBooks for 3 months*
Buy nowYes, you can, Brent86. I'll walk you through the process on saving an Accountant's copy in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
To get started, you'll need to set up QuickBooks. If you are using QDBT, ensure to turn off any Advanced Inventory features you're currently using. You can turn them back on as soon as you have the copy. Then, proceed to creating an Accountant's copy. You can save the file on a USB or online hosting service, or use the Accountant's Copy File Transfer Service to send the file through the web.
Here's how:
This copy has a .qbx extension at the end of its filename. You can also easily share this file with your accountant by putting it on a USB, attaching it to an email, or sharing it through a cloud service.

Do you need to open a *.qba file on your Desktop (non Accountant edition)?
No my accountant has QB 2023 and we have QB 2024 and i was inquiring if we could save the file in an older version so the accountant can open it.
Thanks
But I need to save the accountants copy in an older version. We have QB 2024 and our accountant has QB 2023. So they cannot open the copy we created.
Some software allows you to save as then pick an older version to save the file.
Ask your accountant to install their QB Desktop 2024 Accountant. Why didn't they do that?
I think they use the online version for most clients and did not want to upgrade
If they say they are using Desktop 2023 Accountant, they are entitled to run Desktop 2024 Accountant for free as long as their subscription is active. Unless they have another intention to serve you.
