Hi there, @midorilarsen. I'm here to ensure you can process credit card payments for international users in QuickBooks Self-employed (QBSE).
Allow me to go through and talk about some details that will help you complete the work.
Presently, QBSE is unable to process international credit cards. Our QuickBooks Payment service will only support zip codes in the United States and Canada. You can let your customer use a card from the US or Canada as a workaround.
On the other hand, you can look for a third-party application that will allow you to accept international cards. However, since third-party apps cannot be connected to QBSE, you need to record or import the transactions into the system manually. These are only accessible via QuickBooks Online (including Simple Start, Essentials, and Plus). If you want, you can upgrade it to utilize third-party apps.
Furthermore, see the following articles for information on how to manage your invoice preferences and online transactions:
If you need any help with invoices, I'm here whenever you need me. Just leave a remark below. We appreciate your visit, @midorilarsen.

Thank you so much for your clarification! This was very helpful to know.
I would love if Quickbooks Online could implement this as a coming soon feature. We live and work in a global economy now, and it's so frustrating that international customers can't pay with an international credit card.
We're taking notes of your feedback and suggestions, @gunnerdetroit.
I understand that you're accepting customers' payments with an international credit card. However, QuickBooks Online (QBO) only takes payments from your customer using US credit cards.
Since this option isn't available, I suggest submitting feedback directly to our product engineers. They may look into this suggestion further and consider adding the option in QBO. To submit feedback, you can go to the Gear icon and select Feedback. Then, enter your suggestion and click Submit Feedback.
You can also visit our Customer Feedback page. This will help you track the status of your product request and get the latest updates from our developers. Updates such as how the recent enhancement made to QBO helps our business owners, like you.
Please touch base with me here for all of your QuickBooks needs. I'm always happy to help.
Consider having a 3rd party payment processor to integrate with QBO to accept international payments.
Hello. We currently Use QB Online Advanced, and located in Atlantic Canada. QB Advanced will not allow us to accept US Credit Cards. We are contemplating changing over to the Enterprise version. Will Enterprise allow us to finally be able to accept US Cards? We have a few customers in US and growing steadily.
Thanks,
Dawn
The problem is on QB Payment, not QB Desktop or Online. You will need to use a 3rd party merchant service to accept international credit card payments.
Hi SYLT,
Thanks for reaching out in the Community today! I'd be happy to provide some information on linking US credit cards in QuickBooks Canada.
Here is our guide on Acceptable use of QuickBooks Payments in Canada. The article details what can and cannot be accepted when using the Payments feature in QuickBooks Online and Desktop versions.
To accept international credit card payments in QuickBooks Online Canada, you can explore third-party merchant apps that integrate with QBO.
Here, you’ll find a curated list of third-party apps that seamlessly integrate with QuickBooks Online Advanced: Find third-party apps that integrate with QuickBooks Online.
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to reply. I'll be here to help.
