Can you create a Project from an Invoice? Or does anyone know how to create a "project" from Hubspot., through any automation?

Hello there, @PGarcia.

Yes, we can create a Project from an invoice. First, we need to turn on the Projects feature. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Find the Projects section, then select the Edit pencil icon.
  4. Select the Organize all job-related activity in one place checkbox.
  5. Click Save, then hit Done.

Second, create a project.

  1. Go to the Projects tab.
  2. Select New project.
  3. Enter the information needed.
  4. Click Save.

Third, add project income and expenses

  1. Open your project.
  2. Select the Add to project to create a brand new transaction.
  3. Select Invoice, then put the Product/Service.
  4. Hit Save.

To learn more about creating a project, you can check out this article: Set up and create projects in QuickBooks Online.

Currently, there's no direct way to integrate HubSpot with QuickBooks Online. However, you don't need to worry, you can check out any supported third-party application from QuickBooks App Store.

To visit QuickBooks Online’s app center, here’s how:

  1. Login to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Apps from the menu tab.
  3. Type in the clue word of the specific app you're looking for.
  4. Click the magnifying glass to search.

Stay in touch with me if you have follow-up questions about integrating third-party applications and creating a project with QuickBooks. I'm here to help.

Can you create a Project from an Invoice? Or does anyone know how to create a "project" from Hubspot., through any automation?

I appreciate your response big time! However; is there a way to create a project from an Invoice that is created first?

Big picture issue I am having.......... I am trying to figure out how we can create a project In quickbooks, after we create a "Deal" in Hubspot (the crm platfrom we use). Bc Quickbooks does not share its "Projects API" we can not do this directly. We can only create customers and invoices through the automation that is currently available between Hubspot and Quickbooks; hence the reason I am looking for a work around

The work around at this point, would be creating a Project from an Invoice that was created first!

Open to any suggestions!

Good Afternoon, @PGarcia

I can provide you with some additional information about creating a project from an invoice. At this time, you can't create a project from an invoice. You'll need to create the project first, and then you can add the invoice to the project. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Projects tab.
  2. Press New Project
  3. Enter all the required information and add notes if you'd like.
  4. Hit Save when finished.

Afterward, you'll be able to go to the invoice and change the customer to the project. This will allow the invoice to be included in the project. Learn more about projects through this link.

Should you need any further information, just let me know. Have a great day!

Do you know if QuickBooks is going to share the API of its projects feature anytime soon?

It’s pretty frustrating thIs feature is so limited at this point in time.

Automation is a huge component of business nowadays. I don’t understand why QuickBooks isn’t jumping on this train and sharing its project api

You'll want to visit our Intuit Developer website, PGarcia.

Here's the link to the website: Intuit Developers Community.

In here you can find APIs that may work on what you're looking for. You can also build one.

Let me know if you need anything else.

It has been three years and we are still unable to create simple integrations with our crms to automatically create projects. Is there any new information or work around that you have?
