Change markup for billable expense

Hello there, r39moore.

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I'd be happy to lend a hand with changing markup in QuickBooks Online.

If you're trying to change the markup default rate, you can go to the Account and Settings section.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Below Your Company, select Account and Settings.
  3. Go to Expenses.
  4. Select Bills and expenses.
  5. Put a check mark beside Markup with a default rate of.
  6. Change the rate.
  7. Click Save.

If you want to change the markup on a transaction (bill, expense or check), you can edit them through the Expense Transactions window.

You can follow these steps:

  1. On the left navigation bar, click Expenses.
  2. Go to the Expenses tab.
  3. Search for the transaction.
  4. Click to open.
  5. Make the necessary changes.
  6. Click Save and close.

For more information you can also visit this article: Enter billable expenses by job.

Please be sure to let me know if you need further assistance with the Markup feature. I'm always available here to help.

Change markup for billable expense

Hello there, Ken Zagone,

This option is only available for QuickBoosk Online Plus and Advanced. You might want to check out that version if you need the markup option.

Check this article to know more about billable expenses: Enter billable expenses.

I'll be here if you have additional questions. I'd love to help you more.

Change markup for billable expense

Hi there, @tsanders-llc.

Currently, the option to enter the dollar amount instead of the percentage in the markup percentage amount is unavailable. As a workaround, you can calculate the percentage base on the amount you want to input. I've added a screenshot to know how to calculate it.

You can also use a percentage calculator if you want to get the percentage right away.

I've added this reference page about managing your vendors for your future tasks: Expenses and vendors in QuickBooks Online.

You're always welcome to tag my name in the comment section if you have other questions. I'd be happy to lend a helping hand. Take care and have a wonderful day.
