Let's repair your Adobe Reader to correct the margin alignment, colin-sjostedt.
To ensure that your Adobe is on its latest release, we can update it first before repairing it. Then, try printing a check again to see if the margins are lining up correctly. If you get the same result, you can proceed with repairing your Adobe installation.
Here's how:
After giving these steps a try, let me know if your check alignment is fixed. I'll be around if you need more help.
Hello. I am still having issues with the check alignment being off.
I tried to do what the forum asked, and still not printing right.
I tried to do what the forum asked, and the checks still do not line up.
They are off by just a little. Please help.
Greetings, Executive Travel.
Thanks for following the steps necessary to resolve the printing issue. Allow me to step in for a moment and provide further insights about this.
We’ve received reports that some customers are having a problem when aligning checks. Our engineers are finding a solution to get this resolved as soon as possible.
While they’re still working on a fix, we’ll have to add your company to the notification list. This is to ensure you receive email updates regarding the resolution status.
I encourage contacting our QBO Care Team since they can add your company details in a secure environment. Please provide them this number for easy tracking: INV-30724.
I’ll update this thread once the permanent resolution is available.
This information should help you move forward. I appreciate your patience while we’re working on this. Please know I’m here to help if you have any questions or concerns about QBO.
As this post hasn't been updated with the solution (as promised) I assume that the engineers haven't been able to find one in the 12 months since - would that be correct?
Elaine
I copied this from another website I found online.

To Align Desktop QuickBooks Checks:
Checks have been printing fine for a long time, until recently.
If I adjust the grid so that the $ mark lines up with the numbers, the written number before DOLLARS is two high.
Even without adjustment, the printing on panel 3 of voucher checks is too high.
What has happened to suddenly go from fine to being off?
Good Afternoon, @St Michael.
It's great to see a new face here in the Community. Let's work together to get the alignment on preprinted checks fixed as soon as possible. It only takes three easy steps to resolve this problem. Here's how:
Step 1: Set up printing preference
Step 2: Set up check alignment
Tips on how to align the print
Step 3: Print a sample paycheck
Let me know how it goes. I'm only a post away if you need me. Take care!
I don't have a 'Payroll setting' under "your company"
Thanks for reaching out to the Community, kory777. I appreciate you trying my colleague's troubleshooting steps.
After using your Gear (⚙️) icon, you'll see an option for Payroll settings if you have an active payroll subscription.
In the event you're subscribed, but not seeing this choice under your YOUR COMPANY section, I'd recommend checking the browser in use. It's possible this issue could have something to do with temporary internet files. Browsing applications store these kinds of records, but sometimes they can cause problems when viewing certain webpages. You can open a private window and try performing Candice C's steps again to see if it displays properly.
Here's how to access incognito mode in some of the most commonly used browsers:
If you're able to see your Payroll settings option, it's safe to say this problem's being caused by temporary internet files. It can be fixed by clearing cached data and Intuit-specific cookies.
In the event it continues occurring while browsing privately, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.
They can be reached while you're signed in.
Here's how:
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have an awesome Friday!
I do not have payroll. I am simply trying to print a regular check to pay bills.
Hello @kory777,
Thank you for letting us know you only need to print a regular and not the check related to your employee's payroll. Let me help share how you can print one with the correct alignment.
Normally, browsing in incognito mode is our first set of troubleshooting steps to get rid of browser problems including the incorrect alignment of your checks.
If you can confirm that you've already done this step, let's continue our troubleshooting by printing a sample document not related to QuickBooks.
By doing so, we can identify if this is related to your current printer setup or not. To do so, let's consider following the detailed steps outlined in this article: Configure your print settings for printing checks.
Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Expenses and Vendors for QuickBooks Online.
If you have any other questions, please let me know by leaving any comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.
Thank you! That worked perfectly!
I'm on day 2 (!!!!) of trying to print a SINGLE check. Not payroll, just a bill. A regular check to pay a vendor.
In an effort to be totally seamless, I even ordered printer checks from Intuit. Thought those would be foolproof! Turns out I am the fool. $40/month for QBO, a nice, expensive Canon laser printer. No dice.
I've changed the settings, I've printed 30 f'n pages of test paper with these garbage instructions that get me nowhere. Drag the box here to match - reprint - looks even worse than it was. What does this amount to as a small business owner? A lot of wasted hours, time and money. I'm really frustrated.
With meaningless suggestions for PDF settings on a browser that are also NO LONGER SUPPORTED. Saving the document as a PDF - opening in Adobe, changing THOSE settings and nothing is working still. Use Chrome! Get off of incognito mode! clear your cookies!
Why is this so complicated?! I've been using QB for 10+ years and this is just trash.
I appreciate your efforts in doing some of the troubleshooting steps given by my colleagues, jmitchmus8.
I just checked our system and we've received reports of the same issue when trying print checks in QuickBooks Online. Our engineers are fully aware and are looking for a permanent fix for this as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I recommend contacting our Support Team to include your company in receiving notifications for any updates.
Thank you so much for you patience. We'll be here if you still have other questions. Keep safe!
I agree. This happened to me as well. Was on tech support multiple times for HOURS. One call I was on for 5 hr straight with no resolution. They refuse to elevate the issue to someone higher up in tech support.
Ever since we upgrade to QB 2022 (desktop version), it does not work. Prints the check information down the middle of the check. I can no longer print checks from the software. And we did everything to attempt to resolve it. I even purchase a new desktop hardware, loaded just the new QB software on it and it didn't change anything.
Hi, JasonD250.
I know you did everything you could to get this fixed. Thank you for sharing this in the Community.
We'd like to share your experience with our team, and someone may reach out to further discuss their case to help get it resolved.
We appreciate your patience while we're looking into this. If you need any other help with QuickBooks, I'll be right here to assist you.
For anyone who is still running into this issue (Oct. 2022), if you have recently upgraded to a Windows 11 PC, your printer may not be compatible, which caused the checks to not line up correctly (voucher style) in our case. I wanted to share this in case it helps anyone.
Also... I don't see a mention here of the fact that you need to make sure your PDF is set to print at 100%, not "fit to page". You have to remember to do this every time you print checks.
I just had vouchers print the payee name over the routing and account number on the bottom of the check without shrinking the text or re-aligning anything. Fortunately, it seems to be a one-off as I cannot duplicate the problem.
QuickBooks versions through 2018 worked perfectly and you could align all aspects of the check. This is one instance where going backwards would have benefited all QuickBooks users. I'd like to know who, within QuickBooks signs off on these stupid so called enhancements and improvements that create more work and are inferior compared to original versions. Stop changing what works perfectly. And tp those who are still waiting a year later for a change...don't hold your breath. QuickBooks reputation is going down the toilet and hoping its just a matter of time before a program like NetSuite becomes the preferred business software. I'm encouraging our business owners to entertain changing to NetSuite.
Thanks Jeff
Your method worked perfectly!
Worked perfect! Thank you very much. I just installed a new printer and the checks were not aligned anymore.
