Classic view vs. Modern view onreports

Please, I'm begging you guys! SHUT OFF THE MF MODERN VIEW!!!!

This is not a cache issue. This is a usability issue. It absolutely stinks! Whoever thought this was a good idea is not paying attention to users. My productivity is down by at least 20% thanks to the fact I have to switch to the classic view RELENTLESSLY and then it keeps flipping back to the modern view.

Please make it a preference to silence the modern view permanently!

TOTALLY Agree.  I don't know why Quickbooks programmers would think it was ok for them to just push this crap on us without asking.  This is stupid and you guys need to fix this.  You are causing us ALL issues (unless of course you like the modern view).  But either way don't just push crap out and expect us to just deal with it.  RIDICULOUS !!!

And STOP telling people to clear their cache.  Just admit you did something stupid and fix it.

I agree, the modern view may work for some, but my hand is getting tired switching to classic view every time I need to drill into an account.

As far as I can tell, modern view is worthless and it is not modern. It takes us back to looking at static data.

What developer kid thought of this one. Please give us the ability yo make it all go away. A simple setting in our settings section would make it easy.

This is the best answer you have?

Maybe find someone that can give a straight answer.

Is there going to be a fix?

Please tell QuickBooks they need to stop changing things nobody has asked to be changed.

Every single QBO bookkeeper I know and read in forums hates this crap. Who the hell is asking for it? Marketing people who don't even use it?

Aesthetics mean nothing to accountants. Uniformity and consistency are what is needed in accounting, not modern views.

Chiming in here to say that I agree that the Modern View is not good and I can't even figure out a way to go back to Classic View - so good for you all who have that sorted out.

Please QB, at least give us the option to change back to Classic and keep it that way!

I would add that we NEVER have time to learn all the ridiculous tweaks that get incorporated into QBO without any input from us--I believe EVERY change should come with a "permission slip" where each of your users, who pay good money for this service and our livelihoods depend upon our being able to use the program efficiently, gets to opt in or opt out for every feature that is changed.  Let the developers who spend so much time thinking about whether this box should go here or there--with no changes that benefit anyone except their own egos--spend their time making the program customizable for every user:  we decide ONCE what default we want a report or whatever to be, and then have the program remember that THIS user uses the program with THIS default.

There is nothing quite like sitting down to the computer late at night, dead dog tired from work, but with some necessary estimate or invoice to get emailed out before conking out for the night, and finding, as we so often do, that we have to relearn some feature because some developer made some really dumb change that is totally user-unfriendly and not obvious how to do a workaround til we have time (read:  never) to waste figuring out the unwelcome gift in QBO THIS time.  I have been asking for certain small features for 15 years now, and always get the same canned strokes--what a good idea, I can't wait to tell the IT people so they can incorporate it, oh, thank you, I'm sure lots of people would like this--and then NOTHING ever happens.  Simple example:  an address label function for the customer database.  Everyone would like to be able to send Christmas cards or coupons or thank you's and there is absolutely NO convenient way to do it without a very cumbersome workaround that is posted on the Avery label website--not QBO.  Just a simple example of how we never seem to be heard, at all, ever.  The message I always get is that QBO users are good for nothing but a monthly check--which you only get from us because it would be impossible (read:  expensive to pay someone to migrate to another program)  to change after using it for so many years.  I wish QBO respected its users.  Period.  Changes like the ones complained about in this string show exactly how much consideration--very d*** little--the users get from the developers.

Hey Intuit I wrote a poem for you:

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Know what really sucks?

Modern View.

Sincerely, me; your soon to be not-best friend

This is total BS!  Modern View is NOT friendly, and it IS slow. And it loses information that was saved in Classic View. I set up a payroll to run, saved it for later so I could get the client approval. When I went back to it the next day to run the view had changed and everything I set up was wiped out.

STOP, just STOP, with springing "improvements" without giving us the ability to continue with the system and appearance that has been working just fine.

MICH:  How about you just LISTEN to all of us here, having our respective, individual meltdowns over what QBO has done--and continues to do, year after year after year--that absolutely DOES.  NOT.  WORK. It doesn't work for us, and many times it just doesn't work, period--QBO developers put "improvement" after "improvement" out in the real world, affecting us REAL people who pay our real money to you, without making sure that we WANT the "improvements" and making sure they aren't all buggy and broken before releasing the d***ed kraken on us!  Why should we have to log in, click the gear, jump through hoops for you when we have already wasted so much time trying to make things work for us after QBO screwed them up, and we have all reported the problems, in detail, right here in black and white in front of your nose?  Your instruction to follow your directions "sending [you] feedback from your QBO company" is just adding insult to injury.  You've (QBO) already wasted more of our time than you should have.

@camanosawchick  I agree 100%.  These ridiculous and downright insulting answers that we're getting from "staff" at intuit is beyond infuriating.  The responses almost never actually answer the questions. They give us blah, blah, blah, go submit more feedback, blah, blah, blah. Almost always they literally suggest that we tell them we tried, but is not working. At least have the honesty to tell us when they have no idea, or when they know something is not being worked on, etc, etc, etc. Canned responses only infuriate the people that are paying you a lot of money for your product. I would hope that someone at intuit would not be okay with the fact that many accountants are not staying because they are loyal to Intuit, but that they are stuck with it. What a shame.

In my experience, performing this useless endeavor has never lead to a solution or even an acknowledgement from Intuit. QB plain out sucks and is not a well designed or thought out accounting program.

AMEN!!!  ChristineJoieR's response is a PERFECT example of exactly what is so unbelievably bad about QBO customer service.  (Are you listening, ChristineJoieR??  Get a job somewhere else and ask them to teach you what customer service actually looks like, because QB/Intuit is NOT doing you any favors teaching you this is the way to hang on to customers!!)

To wit:

-Ignoring the problem

-Laying responsibility for reporting **differently** from one's original comment/complaint on the customer is absurd

-Making "cheery" sounds in this case (as QB reps do on EVERY case) while the customer is livid/frustrated/on the verge of tears/at the end of their rope because of QBO unilateral, unwelcome, poorly timed and impossibly presented change, is COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE.

-Telling customers that the changes made (the culprits for the communication ad infinitum, ad nauseum in the first place) are to make things easier for us when CLEARLY, EVERY SINGLE COMMENT rants at you that this problem is the result of changes that totally f****d up our routine and NONE of us can use the suggested workarounds successfully (as if we should have to)....seriously, GET A CLUE.

I used to (foolishly) believe that Intuit/QB was actually interested in user feedback.

Nothing is further from the truth. Their sole motivation is to look for ways to game the system to increase their revenues (remember buying a cd with QB on it and being able to use it for several years before updating again??? HA!).

There are so many things wrong with QB and how it works that should be fixed, instead they force feed an "improvement" no one asked for (Can anyone get a report out of "modern" that gives them anything beyond what a normal classic review report would?)

Lets talk about "increase and decrease" in account balances instead of debit or credit.

Intuit/QB is a terrible company offering a terrible accounting product.

I have asked them many times to make it to where the classic view comes up first.  If someone wants the Modern View then they can click it.  However. they have not changed it that I know of.  I guess they don't care what we think.

The "modern view", arriving unannounced, is the same information re-formatted. It doesn't fit the screen even on a 26" monitor so I have to manually shift the view to see it.  It also doesn't allow me to return the report I was working on which is a key benefit.  The key word is "work".  Hey QBO - that's what we're doing here and you're slowing us down.  Show some respect and do a beta before you start disrupting our work.

@2jp I not only agree with you, I say take it 2 huge steps further:

(1) ASK us if we want this or that change BEFORE it gets dumped on us....and when a change is coming, a DETAILED letter, written by an erudite individual who has several user-editors review the letter before it's sent out (to make sure it addresses EVERY detail of what the changes are and how to "find" what we have been using all along which inevitably disappear when the change is implemented), should be sent at least a couple weeks prior to the release date.  WARN US.

(2) Give us the OPTION of accepting the change or staying put where we are comfortable, and simply have the BigDog computer at QBO, which somehow manages to remember our individual databases, our individual invoice formats, our individual product pricing, etc., etc., etc., have the QBO computer remember what OUR preferred defaults are and keep them there until WE change them.  Who does QBO think it is, anyway?  It's QUICKBOOKS-ONLINE, not GOD-ONLINE.  Phooey.
