Consolidating Inventory Items into one item

Is there a way to consolidate inventory items into one item? I currently sell the same item to different markets and needed to automatically have the revenue and expense hit different accounts based on the market. For example, I sell the same widget to retail stores and direct to customers online. The revenue and expense need to hit the retail accounts for retail sales and the Direct Sales account for the online sales. However, I need to account for the inventory as one item. Thanks

Consolidating Inventory Items into one item

Hi there, David T1.

I'm here to help you consolidate your inventory items in QuickBooks Online (QBO). At this time, the system only allows you to merge accounts, customers, and vendors. This is because the inventory items are affecting the Inventory/Asset accounts and have Quantity On Hand that requires a correct tracking of your data.

You can refer to this article for additional information: How to merge accounts, customers, and vendors. It will guide you through the process of merging the information I've mentioned above.

Meanwhile, here's a reference when doing inventory adjustments:

Keep me posted if there's anything else you need about the process above. I'm always around to help you out. Stay safe!
