Coverting 2011 QuickBooks filed to 2020

My computer is running Windows 7 and I have QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2011.

I'm thinking of upgrading to Windows 10 and QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2020.

Will I be able to convert my 2011 QuickBooks files to 2020?

Coverting 2011 QuickBooks filed to 2020

Hello there, Dave.

Let me share some details about upgrading QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to 2020.

Currently, it's not achievable to directly convert your company files from QuickBooks Desktop 2011 to 2020 since both versions were discontinued. Instead, you can convert the file from 2011, 2014, 2017, and 2020 to restore it.

However, the only available trial version of QBDT is the most recent one (QBDT 2023). To help you get a code to download the trials, I highly recommend contacting our Customer Support Team. They can provide the details and assist you in the upgrade process.

Here's how;

  1. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu.
  2. Click Contact Us.

  3. Type in a short description of your concern, then Continue.
  4. Choose a way to connect with support.

For more details about our support availability, refer to this article: Contact Support.

Also, QuickBooks Desktop has a 3-year lifecycle, and upgrading it from 2013 to 2021 is a big jump. To avoid data issues caused by feature or version differences, create a backup copy of your file.

Alternatively, you may want to explore a third-party application to help convert the data. You can find one by visiting this website: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.

Additionally, check this article that will help you run different reports that cater to your business needs: Understand reports.

Feel free to comment below if you have further questions about upgrading QuickBooks. I'm here to assist you.

Coverting 2011 QuickBooks filed to 2020

Hello Dave,

I'm moving to a new HP Envy Laptop (windows 10) and my old Quickbooks Pro 2011 (desktop no subscription) isn't compatible. I don't want a subscription and have been encouraged to buy an old 2016 or 2018 version as it's compatible with my windows 10.

I run two businesses, a counseling practice (no employees), and a fine art business (including some retail sales). From my research, I'm hearing 2018 is best esp. for my art biz.

Is the format of the 2018 relatively the same as 2011? I don't intend to restore or download my data on my new laptop. I'm going to start fresh with 2024 entries. I just don't want a huge learning curve.

Thank you!
