I have some, @fiftyfootmedia. I’ve come to share why an invoice with the same details from your previous transaction is created automatically in QuickBooks.
Frequently, an issue like this is caused by a recurring transaction. Please know that QuickBooks automatically creates entries based on the intervals specified in the template once it has been scheduled. Have you set up a template like this?
If so, you can review and delete it if needed to get it to stop. Here’s how you do it:
- Go to the Gear icon, then select Recurring Transactions under Lists.
- Locate the template name.
- From the Action column, select the dropdown and choose Delete.
- Click Yes to confirm.

You can also use the Audit log function to track who made this activity if you have multiple users.
On the other hand, if this circumstance just suddenly happened, you can perform troubleshooting steps to resolve it.
First, open your QuickBooks account through an incognito or private window for testing. Here are the shortcut keys below for quick navigation:
- Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
- Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
- Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
- Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
Once logged in, check if it continues to generate. If everything works as intended, return to your regular browser and clear its cache. Doing this helps the program to run smoothly. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative.
