Credit Card balances don't agree

When I look at the Bank Transaction screen, it shows $0 for the Bank Balance of our credit card and the QB balance is $6500.  This card is paid off.  So why don't they both show $0?  I have reconciled every month and had no problems to date.

Credit Card balances don't agree

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, DragonMoney. Let me share insights about your bank and QuickBooks balance discrepancies.

The Bank balance and QuickBooks balance are not always the same. However, Bank Balance refers to the actual balance of your bank account as of the last update from the bank feed, while the QuickBooks balance represents the total balance of all bank transactions you've added or matched in QuickBooks.

Thus, these are the factors why balances may not match:

  • Outstanding transactions
  • New transactions for a connected account
  • Duplicate transactions
  • Edited or deleted transactions
  • Credit card (liability) account

In addition, you may visit this article to review your banking transaction before the reconciliation process: Fix issues for accounts you've reconciled in the past in QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, to help you organize your accounts and ensure these match your bank, you can categorize and match these entries.
