Custom Budget v Actuals report

We just migrated from QB destop to QBO and our memorized reports did not migrate over so I'm trying to rebuild them.

I am trying to rebuild a Budget v Actual report that includes the following columns - Current Month Acutal, Current Month Budget, YTD Actual, YTD Budget, Total Annual Budget.

I've run the Budget v Actual report but it will not allow me to add all the columns I want.

Custom Budget v Actuals report

Hello, @Starbuck1123.

You can customize a report to pull up the Current Month report and YTD actual and YTD budget. Let me help you with that

  1. Go to Report period to This Month.
  2. Click Run report, and hit the Export icon beside the small Gear icon.

  1. Once done, go back to the Budget and Actual report.
  2. Edit the Report period to This Year-to-date and Run report.

Moreover, export the YTD report and combine them in Excel to add columns on it.

I'll be adding some related articles to help you get your way around the Reports feature in QBO:

Custom Budget v Actuals report

Just to be clear - using this method, I have to manipulate the columns and rebuild the report in Excel? There is nothing to create a report with the data straight from QB? I had a saved report in QB dekstop with all of the columns I need. Is this not possible in QBO?

As my colleague mentioned, @Starbuck1123. We can customize your report in Excel and export the year-to-date report to add to the columns.

However, adding the customization report you've shared with us will enhance our report list. I recommend submitting Feedback to our Product Engineers.

Here's how to submit:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Profile, select Feedback.
  3. Provide your suggestions.
  4. Click Submit.

Additionally, I would like to share an article that provides more information on customizing reports: Common custom reports in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be here if you still have questions about your reports. Take care, and have a great day!

Can this be done in QBO Advanced?

Custom Budget v Actuals report

I'd like to officially welcome you here in the forum, kimaslone. I'll answer your question about running and customizing reports in QuickBooks Online.

The Budget vs Actual report comes with default columns, which are:

  • Actual
  • Budget
  • Over Budget
  • % of Budget

At this time, there's no option to add any other columns aside from the default ones.

As a workaround, you can export the Budget vs Actual report to Excel. Then, customize it so you can add the columns that you need.

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Open the Budget vs Actual report.
  2. Click the Export icon and select Export to Excel

If you need more options to customize financial reports, you can send a feature request to our product engineers. Customer feedback is important in shaping the future development of QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Here's how to send your request or product suggestions in QBO:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback
  2. Type in your feedback or suggestions about being able to add more options to customize financial reports.
  3. Click Next to submit feedback.

Just in case you need additional resources when analyzing reports, I'll share these articles as well:
