Customer groups

Is there an easy way to print out or export individual groups under the customer center?  I have QuickBooks Desktop 2020 for Mac with the most recent upgrade Version V19.0.7 R8 on a MacBook Pro 2020.  I have created three different groups for my different client types and I would like to print each group separately.  Ideally I would like to include the contact information for each client inside the group.  I do not need them to be mailing labels, just a list.  Is there any way to do that?  Right now I can't even find a way to look at the list of the clients within the group, let alone export or print it.  I can find a way to printout or export the complete client list, but it is not separated.  When I looked for articles on line I did not find anything helpful.  I found one instruction that starts off with how to go to "lists" then "manage groups" but I do not have that option at all, not even greyed out.  I suspect that action is only for the PC versions, maybe?

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Penny.

In QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, you'll be able to print or export out your customer's data or individual groups by running the Customer Contact List report. Extracting them out from the Customer Center is not an option for now. I'll guide you on how to take the information from QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports tab, then click on Customers & Receivables.
  2. Tap on Customer Contact List.
  3. Customize the names you want to display by going to the Customize Report tab.
  4. Under Filters, pick the groups or names you want to add.
  5. Hit OK.

To export the report, click on the Export tab, then the Print tab to print the details. If you don't have the option to print or export the lists, please make sure to log in to your company file as a master admin to avoid restrictions when working with QuickBooks.

To learn more about user access and permissions, you can open this article: User and password preferences in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

On the other hand, here's how you can learn more about managing reports in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

If you have any other questions about printing or exporting your customers' lists, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!

Hi Angelyn,

Thank you for your answer.  It seems obvious to me that if you are able to create a group you should be able to review that group or print it or export it. But that's just me.

I tried to follow your suggest but I do not see a way to customize the report to export only a particular group.  I can find a name option under the "Filters" section but I can only choose one name at a time, that clearly won't help. There is no choice for "groups".  But thanks for the suggestion.
