Date Prepared is not a field option for Sales Receipt template

Hi everyone!

I am trying to create a new memorized template for donor letters.  Since it is a letter and not an actual "donor receipt", I want the date at the top of the letter to appear more formal (ex: February 17, 2022), not 2/17/2022.

I have changed the format of date within company preferences under reports & graphs, but the field Date Prepared doesn't show up as a field I can add and the Date persists in mm/dd/yyyy format.

Ideas?  TIA!

I’m here to provide information and help you obtain this date format, @bbretton61.

I recognize how appropriate it is to have the month of the date written in words rather than numbers for your donor letters. However, this option is currently unavailable. You may consider using a third-party app or importing your own template. This way, the date appears more formal.

Here’s how:

  1. Open the company file that you want to import the template into.
  2. From the Lists menu, select Templates.
  3. Click the Templates dropdown, then choose Import.
  4. Select the template you want to import, then select Open.
  5. Name the imported template, then press OK.

You can read this article to learn how to customize form templates in QuickBooks Desktop: Use and customize form templates.

Date Prepared is not a field option for Sales Receipt template

QuickBooks won't create proper donor letters.  Instead, use our BRC Donor Statements - QB Desktop  which will. It uses your QuickBooks data to create the statements with no need to re-enter any data.  It has many options, including the format for dates displayed on the statements.
