EOY Customer Summary

I'm going to try this again.  I asked this question a few years back and literally had a person on the phone, one emailing me and one in chat helping me out and no one could solve this.  I need to run a report that allows me to filter our top 100 (or any number) paying customers for the year (customer summary) along with their addresses so that we can mail merge the data, print labels and send out postcards to those customers.  So essentially we need the top 100 paying customers along with their addresses on one spreadsheet without having to intergrate mulitple spreadsheets with equations (this was the suggestion years ago).  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

EOY Customer Summary

Hi there, @charley066. I'm here to help you get a report to show your top-paying customers along with their email addresses in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

I can share a few ways how you can generate this report.

To help you have this data, you can run the Transaction List by Customer report. You can customize it to show top-paying customers and their email addresses. However, sorting this report by amount is not possible. That said, you'll have to manually look for those top customers who paid the most. Here's how:

  1. In your QBO account, select the Reports menu and scroll down to the Sales and customers section.
  2. From there, select Transaction List by Customer
  3. Once opened, click the Customize button.
  4. In the Report period set the correct date range. Then, go to the Columns field.
  5. Search and check the box for Customer, Delivery Address, Amount, Transaction Type, and any other column you want to add.
  6. When done, navigate to the Filter section. Check the Transaction Type field and choose Payment and Invoice. If you only select payments, the address won't be displayed on the report.
  7. After that, click Run report.

On the other hand, you can pull up the Sales by Customer Summary report to show all top-paying customers. This will allow you to sort the amount in ascending order or descending order. However, the option to add a new column to show their address is unavailable (you can run the Customer Contact list report for this). Refer to the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Reports menu and scroll down to the Sales and customers section.
  2. From there, select Sales by Customer Summary.
  3. Once opened, set the correct date range in the Report period field.
  4. Then, select the Sort dropdown located at the upper left part of the page and choose either Total in ascending order or Total in descending order. sbs.PNG
  5. When done, Run report.

For reference about the process, feel free to check this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know how this goes. Don't hesitate to get back here if you have any other concerns about running customer reports in QBO. I'm always around the corner to help. Have a good day ahead.

Thank you for the help.  Bottom line is there is no way to do this simple report.  I mean I literally only need three pieces of information, customer, amount, and address.  This is absolutely crazy!  I know it's not you, but wow...thanks again
