Expenses not linked to bank statement

How can I view all expenses which have been manually added and not yet linked to a transaction on one of the linked bank accounts?

If you go to chart of accounts and go to the account you have applied them to. You can then hit view all transactions on that account on the far right settings.

Have you got the QB app?

Hi kreid3388,

Aside from the suggestion shared by Courtney-Acc, you can also run a report to review all of your transactions. I'm here to guide you through the steps.

You can open the Transaction Detail by Account and customize it to show only the expense transactions. Here's how:

  1. Click the Reports tab.
  2. Enter and select Transaction Detail by Account.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Filter the Report period.
  5. Tick the Distribution Account box.
  6. Select the accounts you want to show.
  7. Click Run report.

When you're ready to link the transactions, you can check this article for the steps of the process: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

You can always get back to the forum if you have questions about the categorization process.

Expenses not linked to bank statement

Thank you both for your suggestions; however, to clarify, I am looking for a way to see all expenses that were manually entered that were not matched to a bank transaction, i.e. any expense I entered from a receipt but has not yet been link to a transaction from the bank feed. The closest I have gotten is to go to the bank register and look at each transaction to see if it has the "manually added from bank feed" icon or the "C" for cleared but I cannot see to filter all expenses by whether or not they have been matched to the bank feed. My objective is to make sure that each income or expense that I have manually entered is either linked to the correct transaction from the bank feed or otherwise accounted for.

Thanks again!

Expenses not linked to bank statement

I appreciate you for the detailed info, @kreid3388

Let me chime in and provide information on how to see all expenses entered manually in QuickBooks.

We can reconcile your account with QuickBooks Online. This way, you can directly see all transactions, if there are any missing and duplicates, instead of checking them in the bank register.

To proceed, here's what you need to do:

  1. Review your opening balance.
  2. In QuickBooks Online, select Settings ⚙ and then Reconcile. If you're reconciling for the first time, select Get started to continue.
  3. From the Account ▼ dropdown, choose the account you want to reconcile.
  4. Review the Beginning balance
  5. Enter the Ending balance and Ending date on your statement.
  6. If you see it, review the Last statement ending date. This is the end date of your last reconciliation. Your current bank statement should start the day after.
  7. When you're ready to start, click Start reconciling.

Then, simply compare the transactions on your statement with what's in QuickBooks. This is also where you can see each income or expense that you're looking for. For more information, please check out this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

I'm also sharing these articles you can utilize to help manage your bank transactions:
