Exporting report to Excel suddenly not working

Before we start, you'll need to make sure that your QuickBooks version is up to date. This can also fix issues in QuickBooks  just like the one you experienced.

If you still can't export the reports to excel, we can toggle your Windows User Account Controls (UAC). This should reset any settings preventing the export feature.

Here's how:

1. Open the Windows Start menu. Type User Account Control Settings into the search and open User Account Control Settings.
2. Select and move the slider to Never Notify. Then select OK.
3. Restart your computer.

That should get you back on track. You can go back into QuickBooks and export your report to excel.

I have a similar issues and tried all the troubleshooting method provided by QB, but reports still fail to open with Excel.

In the past I managed to solve this issue with the Quickbooks Tool Hub. I just followed the instructions there for my specific problem.

Recently however, I've started experiencing this issue again and the only thing that works is to close all open Excel sheets before clicking on 'Export'. Only then does the QB report export to Excel.
