Extract a detailed and complete BOM (assembly) of an item from QuickBooks

Hello, I am facing a problem relating to the management of BOMs or assemblies in QuickBooks Deskop.

We are a car manufacturer and we therefore have many different assemblies with several levels (up to 6 levels).

I would like to extract the detailed BOM for a car with details of each level which would allow me to extract the complete list of all the parts making up the car

For example :

The assembly number of my car is: "CAR 1".
This assembly is made up of 3 sub-assemblies:
- GROUP 1 - Chassis
- GROUP 2 - Engine
- GROUP 3 - Bodywork

Each of these 3 sub-groups is made up of sub-sub-groups of assemblies, for example in the 1st sub-group "GROUP 1 - Chassis":
- Fitted frame (assembly made up of 10 child parts, for example)

In this way, we have up to 6 levels of sub-groups, each made up of assemblies and child parts.

I would therefore like to be able to extract the complete and detailed assembly of the car comprising the 6 levels of detailed parts.

To date I have not found any solution to do this. It's only possible to print out the assembly details in an Excel version, but it's not possible to extract all the different levels of an assembly to have the complete list of parts for making my car, for example.
Or you have to do this manually, which is very long and tedious.

If anyone has a solution, it would be great!

Thanks a lot in advance

Extract a detailed and complete BOM (assembly) of an item from QuickBooks

Thank you for posting in the Community, youmick5. I'd like to provide some insights regarding assemblies in QuickBooks Desktop.

As of now, the option to extract the complete assembly information of a car that includes its child parts is unavailable. However, you can submit your feedback to our Product Development Team. We prioritize product enhancements based on customer requests, and we quickly review them.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Help option.
  2. Select the Send Feedback Online option.
  3. Choose the Product Suggestion option, and a pop-up window will appear.
  4. Type your feedback suggestion.
  5. Click the Send Feedback button, and your feedback will be sent.

Furthermore, you can also find a third-party app as a workaround.

Additionally, you can check this article if you need to adjust the quantity of your product in QuickBooks Desktop to maintain accurate inventory status: Adjust your inventory quantity or value in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please let me know if you have any other concerns regarding assemblies in QuickBooks Desktop. I'm always here to assist you. Stay safe.

So your answer is that no solutions exist.

People have already reported this problem 4 years ago and nothing has changed.

What's more, you're asking me to do the work for you by reporting the problem again, even though as a QuickBooks employee you're fully capable of doing so.

It's just absurd to pay astronomical sums for software like yours when it doesn't even allow you to extract basic things like that...

The lack of professionalism on the part of your technical teams and the obsolescence of your software will force us to subscribe to another, more efficient, competitor.

@youmick5

Have you explored the exporter tool?

https://get.transactionpro.com/qbd

Use the trial version to check. Then you can purchase a $299 one time license. You can get $100 cashback to purchase it thru a partner.

We already pay and use the competitor Saasant Transaction.

But I still find it unbelievable that we have to pay for external software to make up for QuickBooks' shortcomings.

I will check but im not sure Saasant can extract a detailed  BOM neither.
