finding my saved bank reconciliation reports in QB DT Pro

I took over the bookkeeping from a previous person and they have QB DSTP Pro 2020.  I have been doing backlogged bank reconciliation.  I have printed them out and saved them as well but I can't locate where QB saves these in the program.  What is the file ext it assigns to so i can try through windows explorer?

finding my saved bank reconciliation reports in QB DT Pro

We're happy to see your post in the Community space, MJBaccountant1. I'm here to help you find your previous reconciliation reports within the program.

In QuickBooks Desktop Pro (QBDT Pro), your previous reconciliation reports are saved as part of your company file, which makes accessing them straightforward and easy to navigate. I’ll guide you step-by-step on accessing these important reports directly within QuickBooks.

Here’s how to locate them:

  1. Go to the Reports menu. Hover over Banking and select Previous Reconciliation.
  2. From the Account drop-down menu, choose the account you reconciled.
  3. Select the reconciliation period you want to review in the Statement Ending Date section.
  4. Choose Detailed or Both for the report type.
  5. Pick which transactions you want to see on the report: Transactions cleared at the time of reconciliation or Transactions cleared plus any changes made to those transactions
  6. When you're ready to run the report, select Display to see the previous reconciliation report.

However, if you've exported the report as a PDF or as Excel, QuickBooks typically routes it to your Desktop folder. To access this file, you can utilize the Search tab of your Windows computer and type .pdf or .csv.

Also, you might want to personalize the name of your file (Example: My Prev. Recon Report 2024) before exporting it. This step will make it easier to locate your saved files through the search tab.

@AdonL

The question was:

"I have printed them out and saved them as well but I can't locate where QB saves these in the program."

Did you answer the question? No, you didn't.

@AdonL  I cannot imagine having the patience to look through an entire list of the PDFs on my work computer, let alone waiting for it to generate.

RE: I have printed them out and saved them as well but I can't locate where QB saves these in the program. What is the file ext it assigns to so i can try through windows explorer?

Each time you reconcile an account, QuickBooks saves the reconciliation reports within your company file, and not as individual files you can locate using windows explorer.

To access them, start on the QB menu at Reports | Banking | Previous Reconciliation and this window will appear:

Capture.JPG

Then pick the account, the desired statement ending date, the type of report, and the include option.  And then click Display and it will appear.

If you pick the first include option, you'll get the exact report that was generated when you reconciled, which you may have printed at the time (and which has been saved as a pdf within your company file).

If you pick the second option, QuickBooks generates a new report with the additional information mentioned.

unfortunately, that is not the screen I get.  Is that screen in the online version?  my QB PRO 2020 desktop version only has a box for the bank account, detail, summary or both and two other options

This is all I have for a screen shot.  I don't have QB online. Just QB DT pro 2020.

It's the same window, only it appears that in Pro you don't get to see the list of past reconciliations. I didn't know that.  It seems that instead you can only access and reprint the last reconciliation for each account.

To confirm, I did a little testing and toggled my Premier Accountant to Pro and the list disappeared. However, when I reconciled using Pro over and over as a test, and then toggled back to Premier, all of the reconciliations where actually there / had been saved by Pro.

So, assuming the Pro emulation from Accountant is an accurate emulation, your reconciliations are probably saved in your company file, but inaccessible to you when using Pro.

To get at them, you'll need to upgrade to Premier.
