Have Price Rules turned on and setup in QBO. While I can manually use them in invoices, even for Customers tied to the rule, rules are not automatically applying to items

Thanks for bringing this with us, @Accounting 6362.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we need to make sure that the price rules have customers selected and review the adjusted sales price. This way, it will automatically apply to the items. Then, the changes made will apply to future transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Lists, choose All lists.
  3. Select Price Rules.
  4. Click the Create a rule button.
  5. Enter the necessary information needed, and then click Apply rule.
  6. Review the Products and services.
  7. Click Save and close once done.

To learn more about price rules, you can visit this FAQ article: Price Rules FAQs.

Have Price Rules turned on and setup in QBO. While I can manually use them in invoices, even for Customers tied to the rule, rules are not automatically applying to items

Thank you for the breakdown. Unfortunately, I am 99% sure I have it setup all correctly but they still wont automate.  I have the rule setup this way:

  • Customer - Select Individually
  • Price adjustment method - Custom price selected
  • Start Date - Originally a was blank but set to 8/1/2020
  • End Date - Blank

I have a lot of products and about 1/3 of them have an adjusted price. If I enter a brand new charge and go to create and invoice from billable items the rate is the default rate and not that of the price rule. I have yet to see this work for any of the products or customers I have selected.  Any ideas on what could cause that?

Let's resolve the error you have with applying price rules, @FineSociety34.

When you add the items to the invoice or any transaction, price rules should automatically be applied. Since it’s not working on your end, I suggest reaching out to our Customer Support.

Their tools can help you in checking your account by isolating the error you’re having and help you in resolving it.

You can arrange a callback from them by going to the Help icon at the top right of your QBO account. Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Help icon to connect to a live support agent.
  2. Click on the Contact Us button and provide some details about this concern.
  3. After adding some insight, tick on the Let's talk button.
  4. Lastly, select the Get a callback button to arrange a call from them.

Here's the contact the QuickBooks Online Customer Support team article for more information.

I'm always here if you need more help with your transactions. Have a great rest of the day!
