How to invoicing on a currency (Euro) difference than my home currency (USD) to 1 of my customer?

Hello accounts,

I'd be glad to help you out with this.

First, you need to set up a customer with a (Euro) currency by following these steps:

  1. On the left panel, click Sales.
  2. Click the Customers tab, and click the New customer button.
  3. Enter the customer's information, and click the Payment and Billing tab.
  4. Choose EUR Euro from the This customer pays me with drop down menu.
  5. Click Save.

Then, create the invoice transaction by clicking the Create (+) icon, and selecting Invoice under Customers.

When you run the Profit & Loss or Balance Sheet report, the amount will be converted to your home currency. However, you can click on the Sales amount, and customize the transaction report to include the other currency.

For any clarifications or other concerns, please let me know. Thank you.

Hello everyone.

I'm grateful that you took the time to provide me with a screenshot on the steps that you've tried. Let's get this currency concern sorted out.

You'll need to make sure that the Multi-currency option is turned on successfully. Turning this on allows you to have the ability to deal with foreign currencies. Bear in mind that once you've turned the Multi-currency feature on, you cannot turn it off again.

To do that:

  1. Click on the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Account and Settings.
  3. From the left menu, select Advanced.
  4. Select the edit (pencil) icon in the Currency section and choose your Home Currency.
  5. Select the Multi-currency checkbox and confirm that you understand that you can't undo this option.
  6. Select Save.

For more details about this process and how Multi-currency works in QuickBooks, please refer to these articles:

How to turn on Multi-currency and add or delete currencies.

How Multi-currency works.

I've also attached some screenshots to outline the steps:

After that, you can go ahead and set up your customer with a (Euro) currency by following these steps:

  1. On the left panel, click Sales.
  2. Click the Customers tab, and click the New customer button.
  3. Enter the customer's information, and click the Payment and Billing tab.
  4. Choose EUR Euro from the This customer pays me with drop down menu.
  5. Click Save.

Please check out the screenshot below for your reference:

That should do it. Please let me know if I can be of additional assistance. I'll be around to help. Have a wonderful weekend ahead!

Can I change the currency an existing customer pays me with?

I turned the Multicurrency feature on, but when I try to edit the client currency, the drop down menu is not active.

Hello there, @andmargit.

Thank you for joining this thread. I can share some insights about the multi-currency feature in QuickBooks Online.

The option to turn off and edit the Multi-currency mode is unavailable. Thus, the currency you assign for a customer, vendor and/or bank account on its profile remains and cannot be changed.

We're always looking for suggestions on how we can make QBO even better and sending us feedback would be a big help. To send your comments and suggestions, just click on the Gear icon and choose Feedback

I'll do the same on my end for the request to get more votes. You can also share your idea on our Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online website.

If there's anything else I can help you with, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to assist you further.

Hello there, @nomadikat.

The multi-currency feature is only available in QuickBooks Online (QBO). You might want to subscribe to QBO to use this.

To learn more about the different features of QBO, you can check this website for reference: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/uk/accounting-software/

You can also check this article to learn more about Multicurrency in QBO.

Should you have other concerns with your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) account, you can always get back to us. We're always here to help.
