How are custom fields updated through a CSV upload?

I am migrating from another system and I want to use the Custom Fields in the Invoice. But obviously don't want to type in 3000 invoices. How are these updated with a CSV invoice upload?

How are custom fields updated through a CSV upload?

I'm here to help import multiple your invoices in QuickBooks Online, core-billing.

You need to use the required invoice fields during the import. Your custom fields should match what's in QuickBooks to have a successful process.

To do so, you can download this sample spreadsheet to map each of the column headings.

Once your spreadsheet is ready, here are the steps on how to upload it:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, select Import Data.
  2. Select Invoices.
  3. Click Browse and then find and select the spreadsheet of your invoices.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Map your fields, then click Next.
  6. Click OK, then Done.

You can also refer to this article for additional information: Import multiple invoices at once.

Stay in touch with me if you need anything else about the process above. I'm always right here to help import your invoices to QuickBooks.

How are custom fields updated through a CSV upload?

This does not answer the question of custom fields. How can we adjust the CSV so that custom fields are honored? Even naming the headers the same as the custom field doesn't work.

How are custom fields updated through a CSV upload?

Just got off a chat with QB support. I'll save you all the trouble: This feature does Not Exist.

Support:
I definitely can picture out what you want to happen with the importing of transactions, however I'm afraid to tell you that we cannot import custom fields yet.

I am with you on this though, and I think it is a great idea and being able to do it would increase efficiency in the utilization of Quickbooks Online. So for this, would you like to send a suggestion or feedback to our software engineers regarding the inclusion of custom fields in importing data?

@maikijan22

Utilize the trial version of the migration tool as I mentioned earlier to make sure. Firstly, export some of your Invoice data out to XLS. Then use the same template you got earlier to import new data in bulk. Consider to use the trial version for a backup restore app if required.
