Hello there, Amy. I'm here to share some information on how you can download your Customer IDs with the other details.
Yes, you're right. The customer ID is unavailable when you pull up the custom report for your customers. Thus, you can export your customer lists to excel then, from there you'll have to manually enter the customer IDs. I'll show you how to export your customer data.
If you want to export it from the Customers page, here's how:
You can also export it from the Reports page, you can refer to this article for more detailed steps: Export customer data to Excel.
When you're ready to import, you can reach out to CRM support and assist further with the process.
I've also added the following article if you want to export other data:
Feel free to post a reply if you have any other concerns or clarification with migrating data from QuickBooks Online. I'll be around. Have a good one!
Hi and thank you for the quick reply. I have already exported the customer data. However, there are 4800+ customers so it is not feasible to look up, and write down every customer number. I am struggling to understand why the cust id can not be exported with the rest of the data.
Thanks
I found a workaround for this problem, using Zapier. It does not involve any coding.
1. Create a new Zap to transfer information from QBO to Google Sheets (or Excel, whatever you use) when Customer gets updated.
2. Create a new Customer Type (it doesn't matter what you call it)
3. In the Customers section in QBO, you can mass-update all your customers. In the view section, make sure it shows 300 rows. That is the max that it will allow you to change at a time. Select all and update to the new customer type.
4. This will update your customers and trigger Zapier into pulling the ID for you.
5. If you have more than 300 customers, you will need to go to the next page and repeat the process until you have all of them.
6. This will not get any inactive customers. You will need to re-activate them for this to work.
Hope this helps someone!
