Hello there, darren-s-morriso,
I myself don't want to see pop-ups when using an online service. Helpful tip advertisement window is designed to guide and suggest how you optimize QuickBooks Online.
You can ignore the prompt by clicking the X or No, thanks button to close it.
Meanwhile, you can check out the Firm of the Future Team page to know what's new and coming in QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. I'm right here to help.
This is not an acceptable response. I'll be looking to replace "Pop-upBooks" the end of this fiscal year for a program with less corporate bloat and a better user experience and more focused customer service.
I have to turn off this $#@K-ing window every single time I log on. It takes 1/3 of the screen and is impossible to ignore. QB is a paid service. You don't need click-bait bull-#@it to fund it. I don't mind turning it off ONCE. Not every time!!!
FIX THIS!!!!!
Agreed. Not an acceptable answer at all. QBO, is this all you to have to offer? Geez.
It doesn't matter how many times we click the X at the top, it comes back. How do we turn this off?
Hi there, LisaH81.
I can share some information about how advertisements work in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Currently, we're unable to turn off the ads in the program. They are specifically designed to guide you in managing your company. Although, I definitely understand how inconvenient it can be when an advertisement suddenly pops up upon working in the program.
Please know that we implement updates based on our customer's requests. Rest assured, we're taking note of your ideas and suggestions to improve and optimize your QuickBooks experience.
For now, you can click the X icon to close the advertisements so they won't affect your navigation experience. As we assess this opportunity, I recommend visiting our blog from time to time to stay current with our product updates and enhancements.
Also, you can check some of our helpful articles here if you need a reference in completing your tasks.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll make sure to answer them. Thanks for checking out QuickBooks Community and have a great rest of the day.
This does not HELP!!! Did you even read the request? I use QB DESKTOP and do not want to EVER see a single tip from QB. How do I shut these off in the software I FULLY PAID FOR?
I, like so many others, will be looking for a replacement for QB. With this, I'll no longer use TurboTax or It's Deductible, as these were good with QB, but not necessary when I make the switch.
Your inability to understand that customers want what they paid for and nothing more is what's kept me from migrating to QB Online. This means you've already lost revenue because the software I paid for continues to market to me with pop-ups and clickbait!
It isn't the kind of experience that we want you to have,
We can turn off any product tips by turning off the Turn off pop-up messages for products and services option. Let me guide you with these steps:
In case you have some How do I concerns, don't hesitate to visit our Help page.
I'm just a post-away if you still need my help. Take care!
I have turned off the Popup advertising. Now I am getting a little bar with a different message and "Learn More" that I have to click off. Intuit needs to know that it is forcing users to learn more about other products that do not interfere with customers who are working for a living for, among other things, money to pay for accounting software. There are some excellent open source product out there that save us from being insulted by Intuit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are not stupid!!!!!!!!!!!! When we want to "learn more" we can go looking for what we want without Intuit's help. Fix this or lose me as a customer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Desktop requires an upgrade every 3 years then the payroll side is about $500 per year. So it's getting a bit costly. With that said, I don't want to close this window out for every company I manage. It's a real pain and sort of agitates me because unlike other "free but you see ads" software, I'm actually paying to see these ads!!
This response is no help bla bla bla. I have been using QB going on 15 year and hadn't needed QuickBooks to help me manage my company by any other way than the use of their software if i needed any other help i got the number to call. The tip bar is annoying and no matter how many times you click the X to close it, its back even when minimizing the screen and expanding it back, find a way to get ride of it of shut it off.
I completely agree with you. I found this post while searching for options. I used to play the upgrade game; and it used to be cost efficient; but now; I haven't upgraded since 2016 and I do the payroll calculations myself using circular E and excel. Sure it takes longer; but it has worked great the past 4 years without any mistakes. When I last checked, it was somewhere around $400.00 per year for payroll service PLUS $2.00 per employee per billing cycle; which is like buying the cow and being charged for every squirt of milk.
I agree with you and everyone else's sentiments; we paid full price for the software (I only use Desktop), let us use it how we want, without interruptions. I have gotten rid of almost all ads EXCEPT for the one in the bottom left corner box; which screams URGENT at all times because it wants me to upgrade.
I have been spending my free time looking for QB alternatives; Wave, FreshBooks, Xero are all either too insufficient, or crazy expensive for what you actually get. CheckMark software is looking really nice; their modules are separate (multiledger, payroll) but once you pay for them at the start of the year, they are yours; no ads, no up-sales; just getting work done. Each year afterwards, you just have to pay for the payroll upgrade which is considerably less expensive than QB's yearly program. Anyway, that's my vent. Hope someday, someone can figure out how to bypass all this crap
.
Well, I guess you ignore customer requests because no one wanted this and it's 2022 they are still there. I too came here looking for a way to stop these as they pop up every time I do anything. It's not even once a session it's every single time I click to add a bill or record something it's in my way again. You charge your customers a fee for the service there should be ZERO ads thrown in our face. I am a newer customer and will absolutely not put up with this. There has to be a way to stop it and if not then clearly you care more about money than you do your customer.
You must turn off all of the advertising!!!! It is even in the desktop Pro application. You are stealing employee time and affecting productivity!!!! These are all annoying, inconvenient and only tolerated because I have not had time (there's that productivity thing again!) to find an alternative. That doesn't mean I am not actively seeking an alternative to Quickbooks and will jump ship at the first opportunity. I have been a Quickbooks customer for more than 20 years (yeah, remember Peachtree?). There are alternatives and maybe that is why you are so aggressively pushing irrelevant products. Please provide the option to turn off the ridiculous, pestilence called Discover hub OR at least put an X (close) option on it. This is beyond the pale.
Again fix the advertising menace and STOP STEALING your customer's time!!!!
There is neither an "X" nor a "No, thanks," prompt, so your admonishment to "ignore the prompt by clicking the X or No, thanks button to close it," is complete nonsense. This refers the despicable new feature that I cannot turn off called DISCOVERY HUB. A bridge too far. Please provide the option that you tout in your response to our desperate pleas for relief from the onslaught of advertising of your products. This is in the Desktop application.
Irrelevant/non helpful/generic EMPL/Moderator/Quickbooks "team" comment incoming.
sad
Hello darren-s-morriso, I am with you on this... If you find a replacement program, please share it with us. I am currently looking to move away from Pop-upBooks too. Thanks!
I've started migration to Gnu-cash. It's tedious and I'm about 5% into the transfer. The program is open source. it's been stable so far. Moving the data over requires a bit of wrangling but the steps are all repeatable across the different "segments" of QBooks - accounts, vendor lists, even transactions can transfer. It's not for the faint of heart and requires IT skills but I have both the determination (to be rid of QuickBooks after this last round of sticker shock for a program that barely works) AND the IT skills since that's my profession. I think they are in a tail-spin with the economy and are trying to extract a windfall from their "trapped" customers. We are all prisoners and not here by choice.
If Intuit is smart about this, they will wake up and start listening to their customers. So far, I see no sign of that happening.
I have been a quick books customer since it was a DOS program. I came here because I finally got frustrated enough to seek help outside the scope of my knowledge. I manage multiple companies, and can assure you, I am researching new technology. The ads were the last straw. Any recommendations on new software are welcome!!
I've been looking but haven't decided an option yet. My 1st annual subscription is up in 1 month and that's it. No more QuickBooks. I'm looking seriously at open source GnuCash. I don't have overly complicated bookkeeping needs at the moment, so I'm taking the plunge. It's a daunting task but anything is better than the relentless onslaught of constant ads disguised as reminders inside the desktop product. There are plenty of online alternatives to qbooks, but I'm not going there. The field of players in the desktop bookkeeping application space is exceptionally narrow, something Intuit exploits to its great advantage. But, excuse me, +$500 per year for in-app ads is beyond the pale. It's disgusting and disappointing. I'll overcome it somehow. I will not stay with QuickBooks and I will encourage anyone who asks to stay away from it. Good luck everyone!
QuickBooks has become so incredibly tiresome, every session in the desktop version, I mean every single one, comes with more ad's to purchase something from Intuit. I can't get away from this software fast enough now. And since QuickBooks is an Intuit product, I am also ditching TurboTax. Three decades of using both, but enough is enough, and they just aren't listening. They hear us. They are ignoring us. A doubly insulting repayment of three decades of loyalty. Today it was "sign up for our Data Protection service," whatever that is. I'll never know. Just getting out of the prompt caused QuickBooks to close unexpectedly = defect caused by an ad. Another QB theft of 5 minutes of my time and attention!
