How do I enter my daily mileage, such as trips to the post office and thrift store etc? I see where I can add them but do not see them in my totals on expenses

Hello there!

I appreciate you sharing your concern with us. Rest assured, I’m here to help you see your daily mileage in QuickBooks Online.

Once you've entered your mileage, we can review it in the Business or Personal section on the Mileage page. You might be in the Unreviewed section, which is why you’re unable to see them. I'll show you how:

  1. From the left pane, go to Mileage.
  2. Choose Business or Personal or All tab.
  3. Find the Mileage you’ve entered.

Here’s an article you can refer to further guide you in tracking mileage: Automatically track mileage.

On the other hand, we can also run a Profit and Loss report to see all the expenses listed in your mileage expense account. For more details about this process, check out this guide: Run reports in QuickBooks Online. It gives you an overview of reports that gives you a snapshot of your business.

Moreover, I’ll be adding this resource here for more details on how to enter mileage in QBO: Reimburse employees' mileage and vehicle expenses in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you still have questions or concerns about mileage and expenses in QuickBooks Online. I'll be around for you. Have a wonderful day, and stay safe at all times.

Thanks buy none of this helps or answers my questions. Sure I can see my mileage entries but they are not being applied to my expenses like they automatically do with godaddy...and I don't want to use mileage tracker . I just simply want to manually enter my miles in whem i go buy goods or go yo yard sales to buy goods to sell on ebay etc, like I always have ...can we not do this simple task on quickbooks? Why do they make it so difficult? I just want to enter my miles and see them added on as an expense. Same with purchasing items to resell...they should automatically go into cost of goods sold or some kind of expense.  Is this possible?

Thanks but none of this helps or answers my question. I see my miles I entered but still do not see them as am expense like I want. I just want to simply enter my miles in everytime I go somewhere to purchase goods for resell on ebay and have that counted as an expense like with godaddy...very simple, or it should be, same as when I make purchases on items to resell...enter in cost and it should be added to expenses but they are not. Why? Isn't this possible? Such a simple basic bookkeeping method and yet quickbooks can't seem to do this or I can't seem to figure out how

Currently, the option to automatically apply your mileage entries to your expenses is unavailable. You can submit feedback by selecting the Gear icon in the top right-hand corner of your company and then choosing Feedback.

I don’t want to leave you empty-handed here. I’m adding some links that will guide you on how to resolve work trip issues and change your driver's user permissions.

If you need more help and resources to accomplish a specific task in QBO, you can utilize our self-help articles. These online references contain topics about managing taxes, payroll, inventory, handle customer or supplier transactions, to name a few.
