How do I get a total for each expense category for 2023?

Let me provide the steps to get you started:

 

  1. On the left panel, select Reports
  2. Type Transaction Detail by Account in the search bar.
  3. In the Transaction Detail by Account Report page, click on Customize.
  4. Next, filter the date to "last year" (2023).
  5. Then, click on the Filter drop-down.
  6. Tick the box next to Distribution Account, then select All Expense Accounts.
  7. Once done, click Run report.
