I've got your back in arranging the customer names on the Invoices page in alphabetical order in QuickBooks Online (QBO), dfgstables.
You'll have to click the Customer toggle button to arrange it in ascending order. This provides a list of customer names in alphabetical order. See the screenshot for your reference:

If it works, return to your default browser and clear its cache. Every so often the cache becomes overwhelmed with older data which can potentially cause viewing and performance issues. Clearing it will refresh the system, and you'll be able to work with a clean slate. Switching to another compatible one to help rectify the issue.

I'm having the same problem -- just changed a couple of days ago. I hope someone posts a reply on how to fix this. Irritating how they goof things up.
They apparently fixed the problem, because now they're in order. I had finally decided to give up on looking for an answer, and sure enough, they probably figured it out and fixed it. They're in the right order now. I did nothing different on my end. Did not clear cache. Just waited.
