I tried it and its super easy. Would also recomend. Saved me several hours of uploaded resturant sales JEs for the month!
I have a 3rd party vendor between our QBO and POS system. I was able to download the journal entry from the POS as a QB import/export file. How do I upload this into QBO? Our bookkeeper left so I am feeling my way through some of this. Thanks
Why do you need to import JE, not Sales Receipt from POS into QBO?
If you're in America, you can't. Quickbooks is aware that people have been asking for it but haven't set it up. Were you in Canada or the UK, then yes.
So you have to go with a third party vendor. Quickbooks has allowed developers to do it, but they won't. I use Business Importer and am pleased with their site and their affordability. But there are others, too. You'll have to research them to find out if they are what you're looking for.
Good question. I hate to use the answer "because that's the way it's been done", but....
Our entry is broken down into about 20 line items and the POS generates (thru Shogo) a journal entry. Of course by the time I figure this out, we will hopefully be changing our POS to a new company. In the meantime, I need to know how to do this upload.
I have a 3rd party and the file that downloaded is a QB import/export file
Prepare your JE data with the following template
RefNumber | TxnDate | PrivateNote | IsAdjustment | Currency | ExchangeRate | Account | LineAmount | LineDesc | Entity | Class | Location |
101 | 01/10/2020 | Wire Transfer | FALSE | Savings | -50.00 | Credit Savings
101 | 01/10/2020 | Wire Transfer | FALSE | Checking | 50.00 | Debit Checking
102 | 01/10/2020 | Wire Transfer | FALSE | Savings | 200.00 | Debit Savings
102 | 01/10/2020 | Wire Transfer | FALSE | Checking | -200.00 | Credit Checking |
then use an importer tool to proceed

As an additional option, use a backup restore app before doing anything to lower any risk.

Why isn't this function available in the US? What is keeping QuickBooks from creating the functionality? If its available in the UK and Canada what keeps it from being created in the US? From conversation threads I see people have been asking for this for, at least, the last couple of years. It would be a very beneficial function. Thank you.
"Spreadsheet Sync" (QBO Advanced Feature) allows you to import transactions, including:
> Customer Invoices, Sales Receipts and Estimates
> Journal Entries
> Expenses, Vendor Bills and Purchase Orders
>Time Activities
