I'm here to provide details about handling advertisement messages in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @rickberrios-ccm. This way, you'll be able to monitor the growth of your business and manage your account effectively.
The advertisement messages in QBO are designed to guide you on how to optimize your experience with the system. Currently, turning it off isn't an option. However, you can manually close them by selecting the X sign or the No thanks button. With this, you'll be able to prevent the advertisements from showing up again.
In the meantime, I'd recommend visiting our blog. This way, you'll get the latest improvements, features, and news about the online version of QuickBooks: The QuickBooks Blog.
I'm also adding this article to guide you in managing your business using QBO: Help articles for QuickBooks Online. It contains topics about banking, advanced accounting, and payments to name a few.
Please let me know if you have other concerns. I'm just around to help.
That is pretty unacceptable. We are paying to use the product, and the option to be "guided" or not should be a toggle. A simple line of code. The guidance you are providing, is not required, and it is distracting which results in lost productivity, because I have top stop to close it or scroll more. On smaller screens, like an iPad makes it even worse. Your Marketing team should be ashamed of themselves for subjecting customers to this kind of predatory tactics.
Your voice matters to us, @rickberrios-ccm.
I hear your sentiments about turning off the advertisement messages in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I can also see the inconvenience this has caused you and how they're affecting your productivity. But please know I'm here taking note of your comments. This way, we can improve the program for a better navigation experience.
In the meantime, I'd still suggest selecting the X sign or the No thanks button to manually close the ads. Also, you can check out our Firm of the Future site, so you're able to keep track of our product updates. I want to make sure that you get back to your business.
Since you're also using the QBO app on the iPad, I recommend visiting this article: Mobile App Overview. It shows you a comparison chart between the features available on supported mobile devices. Just go to the iPad section.
Please don't hesitate to leave a comment below if you have other concerns. I'm here to help. Keep safe always, @rickberrios-ccm.
Completely unacceptable answer. The messages continue to pop up no matter how often I click on the "x" or click "No thanks". This is a paid for product. If it was free I might expect "advertising". These messages slow up my work, and, frankly are utterly annoying.
MIght I suggest that each user of this program write corporate and threaten them with reporting them to the FTC for unfair and predatory practices. We all pay too much money to receive ads. I have had the do not allow popups for advertisements checked yet I am now again getting new ads. ENOUGHT is ENOUGH.
I don't even get a "No thanks" button. I get "Remind me later." or "Sign up." I wish to do neither. Biggest piece of garbage, and they just raised the monthly subscription 60%. Can't wait to find a new accounting package.
This thread has been going for over two years and still no action. Advertising in a paid for application is unacceptable. Especially at what the monthly fee is!!!
You say it is "advertisement messages in QBO are designed to guide you on how to optimize your experience with the system". Please explain how repeated advertisements for an Intuit credit card will "optimize" my experience with the system.
You need to provide an option to stop advertising ASAP. QuickBooks is not the only option out there.
I get what you mean, DanC911.
We don't want you to have this experience since the pop-up advertisement may slow you down in running your business. I recommend selecting the X or No, thanks option to stop pop-ups for the time being.
Another option is to turn on your browser's pop-up blocker. This stops pop-up windows from appearing. I'll show you how.
For Safari browser:
Depending on the browser you're using, you can also search online for more instructions on how to stop block pop-ups.
I encourage you to send your feedback to our Product Development team. They can review your request and possibly add the capability to remove it in future updates.
I've also included this link to help you effectively manage your account for future reference: Learn about QuickBooks Online with how-to videos.
Please post again if there is anything else we can do to assist you. We'll be right here to provide you with answers.
Giovann,
My browser is already set to block popups and I still get the ads. They aren't popups, they are part of the QBO interface. Also, there is no "No Thanks" option. It's either "Learn more" or "Remind me later", neither of which I want to do.
Please just turn this bullcrap the phque off phque sake. Enough of your pushy crap distracting us. Even with a please you do not understand what a phqueing distraction those are.
If you are here to help then listen to the complaints about your popup addsfor gods sake.
If Quickbooks is listening in 2023, three years after this concern was voiced, I would appreciate a way to turn off pop-up advertising from within the app, too. I pay $320 a year now for service? This continued advertising push is beyond distracting and to the point I'm looking into other options. Listen up, Quickbooks.
You are not alone. There are a lot of complaints, mine included, about this and it does not look like they are listening. Even checking the box "please do not show this message again" does not work and the subscription for desktop pro went to 549.00 per year as of Jan 1, 2023. If you find an alternative that you like let us all know.
This seems to be working well accept I still get one that is a reminder to try moving to QB online and that is not very often.
Thanks. Good find. However, this solution is for the desktop version, not the Online version. The Online version is very obnoxious witht he constant marketing pop-ups
Let me chime in on this thread to provide assistance with turning off ads in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @eva17.
I comprehend your perspective. The advertisements are made to make features and items that some customers would wish to use for their businesses simple to obtain.
Since the following affect you while managing your business differently. Then, I’ll gladly walk you through turning this off to get rid of it:
Once done, sign out and back into your QBDT account, and the pop-up advertisements will not show.
I also added this article for your complete guidelines when closing out your previous year and preparing for a new one: Year-end guide for QuickBooks Desktop.

@RoseJillB This whole thread was about QB Online. Where are the instructions to stop pop-up ads in QB Online?
Hello there, @bgreganti.
I'm here to provide you with detail about managing your ads in QuickBooks Online (QBO). At the moment, the option to turn off the advertisement is unavailable.
Yet, you can close them manually by clicking the X sign or the No thanks button. This prevents the advertisements from showing up while your using QBO.
In the meantime, you can submit feedback to our software engineers to raise your suggestion. They may consider adding the option to stop notifying ads after opening QBO to our future product updates.
Here are a few steps to submit feedback:

If you need additional assistance with managing your QBO system, never hesitate to reply to this post. Take care.
It seems like this is a feature that needs to be added to QBO sooner than later. We pay enough for our subscriptions to not be interrupted by ads. Send your offers via email so we can look at them at our leisure.
"the option to turn off the advertisement is unavailable"
This isn't an acceptable answer. I have submitted several feedback and reviews as requested from Intuit. They don't care. Maybe as an employee of Intuit you should take this up the chain as a customer satisfaction issue. I pay $105 a month to continually close pop-up advertisements for services I have no use for, like payroll.
Everyone realizes this will never change, right?
Ha, I know. In the off chance they listened and cared to put customers before profits, it felt good to vent and put it out there. I’m sure I’ll revisit this post next year again when they hike rates and push more products down my throat.
we're into QBO for about 1-month now, and this is the 1st help topic I've searched for - the incessant pop up buy more from QBO is annoying and boderline unprofessional. if i close it, i want it to stay closed. if QB wants me to look for another online accounting subscription software service, keeping these pop up ads going is just the way to do it.
