Hello.. I am looking to purchase QuickBooks but I want to make sure I purchase the right one. I don't even know if QuickBooks can do what I am about to ask, but I'm guessing it can.
Please bear with me as I try to explain what I'm after. My wife sells apple butter and I would like to know if there is anyway QuickBooks can calculate the costs of the items she uses to make the apple butter against the price she charges. For example, for a 16 oz jar of apple butter...if I enter the costs of the ingredients to make it, can QB track each ingredient item? I hope I make sense. Which version if any, would accomplish this for me. I was thinking maybe the PLUS version, but I am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Tony
QB Online doesn't have any feature for unit measurement or assembling inventory to become a product. You may need an inventory management app for a simple BOM or a manufacturing app for a complex BOM to integrate with QBO.

Otherwise, consider using QB Desktop Premier instead. Deploy a private cloud or put your company file(s) on a QB cloud hosting if required.
Thanks so much for your reply! That helps me.
Thanks so much for your reply. That helps.
The PLUS version of qbo is exactly what you need for the Apple Butter manufacturing business!
Set up your RAW materials in qbo with a revenue account and a CGOS (even through you don't sell those components by themselves).
Next, set up your FINISHED Apple Butter(s) as BUNDLE products. Within the BUNDLE, you will be asked to list the raw components (there is an option to hide the from the customer, so the ingredient recipe will NOT show on the invoice)
Once you add the Apple Butter Bundle to an invoice, QBO deducts the raw material components and records the sale of each Apple Butter Bundle at the price you have set. All will happen with the click of a mouse.
All the best,
Kevin
