how to create a profitability report by vendor

Hello there, Giselle.

The option to run a profitability report by the vendor is unavailable. If you're referring to your billable purchases to your customers, you can pull up the Purchases by Item Detail report.

  1. Click the Reports menu and choose Purchases.
  2. Select Purchase by Item Detail.
  3. Click the Customize Report button on the menu.
  4. From the Display tab, hit the Billing Status column.
  5. Click OK to refresh the report.

Customizing the report will help with adding or excluding some rows and columns you want to display on the report.

If you're referring to something else, please don't hesitate to mention me in your reply. Any additional information is much appreciated. Take care!

how to create a profitability report by vendor

Hi,

Thank you for your quick reply.  The report you mention only gives me the total purchased from the particular vendor, which information can be simply attained by going to the report "Purchases by Vendor Summary".

Since you state that there is no option to get a report showing Profitability by Vendor, it would be a nice report for the people at QB to include it.

Hi @Giselle.

You're correct that the Profitability by Vendor would be a great option to see the revenue and profit made on items purchased. For us to boost your QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience, you can submit feedback about this report.

In the meantime, you can find relevant reports and generate them in QBO. Then Export them to Excel to manually generate a Profitability by Vendor report.

I also encourage visiting our QuickBooks Blog site to see amazing features and product enhancements in QBO.

Please let me know if you have other concerns with running specific reports in QuickBooks. I'll get back to you. Stay safe and healthy!
