how to find transactions that required a password to change 2019 numbers that were locked

I just looked at my 2019 FY numbers (which I had locked with a password) and realize a few have changed.   Is there a way to create a report that identifies what transactions occurred in 2020, that used the password, and that changed 2019 account balances?

I have shared the password with a member of my staff and I believe that person does not understand what is occurring and the resulting issues.

Yes.  Use the Audit Trail report and filter it for transactions dated 2019 (and perhaps before?) that were edited in 2020.

Can you be more specific about how to create this report.    I have never done this.

I really appreciate the help.

Thanks for coming back, @Ed-IRM,

The Audit Trail is a great report if you want to keep track of any changes to the entries in QuickBooks or see when they are created. I can guide you through the steps on how to pull up the report. Perform the steps below:

  1. Simply go to Reports then Accountant & Taxes.
  2. Once done, pick Audit Trail from the list.
  3. Update the Date Entered/Last Modified field with the period you want to view.
  4. To add additional filters on the report, use the Customize Report option.

I'll be adding some articles to help you maximize the use of our reports in QuickBooks. See hem below:

Please tap me anytime if there's anything else you want. I'll be more than happy to share some insights to help you. Have a nice day!

OK...

1. Start on the QB menu and pick Reports | Accountant & Taxes | Audit Trail.

2. Click the Customize Report button.

3. Add the Date filter and set it to 1/1/2019 to 12/31/2019.

4. Modify the Entered/Modified filter and enter 1/1/2020 to 12/31/2020.

5. Click OK to re-run the report.
