I can see the significance of having the old invoice layout in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, @accounting-cdioh.
If you're currently using the Essential or Simple Start plan, the option to switch back to the old layout is unavailable as we've already implemented this new experience. However, if you're subscribed to the Plus or Advanced plan, you can switch back to the old layout by following these steps:
Therefore, if you have any product suggestions to make your experience better, you can submit feedback to our Product Development team.

This method doesn't work. I've spent literally all morning trying to revert to the old layout. This new one has soooo many errors. It doesn't allow filtering by specific dates, and it doesn't allow unliking transactions and saving them for other invoices. PLEASE, I NEED TO GO BACK TO THE OLD LAYOUT!!!!!!
I understand how you feel and I appreciate the effort that you've made so far, @Lizzzz. Allow me to share some updates about and clarify things about switching preferences in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
QuickBooks has updated the invoicing encounter to include more features and moved clients to this modern interface to improve business efficiency. Clients with QBO Simple Start and Essentials don't have the choice to switch back to the old format. For Plus and Advanced users, we've also migrated to the new invoice layout without having the option to switch back starting May 6th, 2024.
At this time, updates in QuickBooks are irreversible. I want to ensure your feedback and opinions will be heard and put into action. I suggest sending them to our product developers to help improve your experience. Please know that your opinion with us is highly appreciated.

. "QB has updated the invoicing encounter to include more features and improve business efficiency '
- The company header, which never changes and has no reason to be displayed, now takes up 70% of the screen (and can't be hidden) pushing all important information off of the screen.
- The 'invoicing encounter' no longer shows payments applied / account info in the top right corner
- The sales tax rate now has to open a new window to be accessed.
- Every time you enter a new line, you are put back at the top of the page, forcing you to scroll down every time.
- The close invoice 'X' has been removed. now if you view/edit an invoice you must either save & close from a drop down menu or hit the back button.
- There's now a window on the right hand side full of drop down boxes that contain nothing!
Quickbooks successfully created a new view that filled 85% of the screen with useless windows and unneeded information.
From what i can tell, the ' new invoice encounter' removed or relocated features, Decreased efficiency, and removed other pertinent info from the screen. Its a huge step backwards. We could always see what the invoice would look like before it was sent. It's a feature called print preview!
Take a look at this "customer service" chat reply when I asked about reverting to the old layout.
5/14/2024 7:52 AM I highly appreciate your patiently waiting to resolve the issue, your patience and effort effects on how to look for the resolution on theissue.
The changes are for the upgrade of the QuickBooks, it basically changes because of the feedback of the customer that we received.Majority is recommending changing the layout and interface of the QuickBooks invoices, estimate, bank transactions and etc.
I do understand that it might have a lot of changes in printing the invoices for you and I hope it you will materialize it easily.
Your feelings are valid. As a business owner, you are familiar with changes all the time. Things change and we have to adopt. In ourfavor or not. We make the best out of it. As a user of QuickBooks myself, I can see some good changes. Just like you, I had tostruggle. Eventually, I got the hang of it, and I really appreciates the changes. I'm sure you will as well.
Wow. "Here at Intuit we know better than you so suck it up and get used to our new (worse) layout, we don't care about customer input at all and remember you paid us money for this :^)"
Unreal.
Yup, I called customer service and it was pointed out that the option to return to the old format is no longer available. Intuit needs to incorporate the old format with the new so that it is more intuitive. The new format - scrolling shouldn't have to be standard just to see the first couple of rows, you should be able to make a recurring invoice without having to re-type the whole thing, print view shouldn't take ages to load. Get it together Intuit - listen to your customers.
