Join nowI'm here to share some information about how purchase orders work in QuickBooks, yvonne14.
When you have multiple purchase orders for the same supplier it can be useful to merge them all into one before sending it to the supplier. Currently, the option to directly combine two open purchase orders is unavailable in QuickBooks Online.
As a workaround, we'll have to edit the purchase order then delete the other one. This way, we'll be able to record and send all your orders in one transaction. You can follow the steps that I've listed below:
Once done, we'll have to go back to the Expenses tab and locate the other open purchase orders. Then, let's select Delete under More to get rid of the duplicate.
In case you'll need to track all the money you've paid to your vendors for a particular date range, we can customize the Transaction List by Date report to show all the payments.
Should you have any other concerns or follow-up questions, you can find me here. As always, assistance is just one post away.
Thanks for the info. When can we expect "Purchase Order merge" feature available in QuckBooks Online?
Thanks for the info. When can we expect the "Merge Open Purchase Order" feature in QB Online ?
Hello, Shas. Thanks for becoming part of the Community.
There's a fantastic resource called the Whats New in QuickBooks Online archives which I'd recommend actively keeping an eye on for information about new and upcoming features. The most recent addition to this database is our June 2020 article. In that publication, Intuit's QBO Team covers some recent changes and planned updates that'll soon be implemented.
Currently, there isn't a publicized plan to create a feature for merging open purchase orders, however, you can follow the workaround provided by my colleague, KlentB. I understand how this could benefit your business, so I've submitted feedback to our product development team. This way, it will be considered in future platform maintenance.
Here's another part of our website which may come in handy: The QuickBooks Blog
