I accidentally deleted an invoice that was matched to a deposit. Can I restore the invoice from saved file? Or, how else can I fix?

I accidentally deleted an invoice that was matched to a deposit. Can I restore the invoice from saved file? Or, how else can I fix?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, @mthsmusictreasur.

I recognize how important it is to maintain accurate financial records, and I'm here to help you navigate this situation.

To begin with, please know that the deletion process in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is permanent. This goes to say that once an invoice is deleted, it can't be restored.

But it can recreated if the invoice you intended to match to your deposit is associated with the Bank deposit feature in QBO. In that case, you'll want to recreate the invoice and link it to the corresponding deposit. You can check the Audit log for details on the deleted invoice.

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Audit log.
  2. Choose Filter.
  3. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate Changed, or Events filter to narrow the results.

On the other hand, if this is not what you intended, and the invoice you want to match with your deposit is from an uploaded deposit, then you can Undo the transaction on the bank transactions page and match it again.

  1. Navigate to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Head over to the Categorized tab.
  3. Search for the transaction.
  4. In the ACTION column, select Undo.

Once matched again, you can begin the process of reconciling your account regularly to make sure it corresponds to your bank and credit card statements.

Moreover, you can generate a reconciliation report to obtain a summary of the beginning and ending balances, as well as the list of cleared and uncleared transactions.

If there's anything else I can help you with regarding managing your transactions in QBO, you can always click the Reply button for a follow-up. I'll make sure to respond. Take care.
