We want to help you with your concern about customer list. However, we need more information about it to provide the correct resolution and to get this sorted out promptly.
Are you referring to the customer list from the Sales section or within the Create invoice screen? I recommend adding a screenshot to ensure we can provide you with an accurate solution.

It is the create invoice screen I am using with a customer list down the left side of the screen.

The option to keep the list from going back to the top after you create and save an invoice is currently unavailable. That would be a great addition to our current features, so I'll keep that on a note.
