I've received a report about being unable to send emails using Yahoo powered by AT&T.
If you're using this service, you need to change the settings on the preferences to correct it. Let me show you how:
- Go to the Edit menu, then select Preferences.
- Choose Send Forms, then go to the My Preferences tab.
- Highlight the email, then select Edit.
- Under Email Provider, select Others, not Yahoo.
- In the Server name field, enter smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
- Under Port number, use 465 or 587.
- Make sure to mark the SSL/TLS box.
- Click OK.
If not, the following reasons may clarify the source of the issue:
- A damaged QuickBooks installation.
- Domain admin was blocked.
- Account security settings from your email provider.
To fix this, let's take the first step by updating QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to isolate this. Then, check the review the settings to ensure it's set up correctly so you can invoices.
Here's how:
- Go back to the Edit menu, then select Preferences.
- Choose Send Forms, then go to the My Preferences tab.
- Highlight the email, then select Edit.
- Under Email Provider, select the email you're using.
- Click Edit.
- Mark the SSL box, or set it to Default.
- In the Server name field, enter the name provided by your email provider.
