I have made several payments to a customer. I can see them in other areas of QB, pymts correctly logged under "customer" but they dont show under his customer account..

Not sure why his customer record shows not transactions even though the filters are set to All Transactions and All dates. I have verified the payments are to his "Customer" account (not a vendor) and yet they don't show up. Help?

Thanks for having you back here, tedra1.

I'm here to help you locate the payments made to a customer.

To clarify, are you the one's paying the customer? If so, this will not show on the Transaction List under Customer. I'll make sure to help you locate the customer payments you've made in QuickBooks Online. You'll have to run the Transaction List by Date report and customize it. Here's how:

  1. From the Transaction List by Date Report page, click Customize.
  2. Click on Filter.
  3. Put a checkmark beside the Name box.
  4. Select the name of the customer.
  5. Click Run report.

Feel free to leave a comment if you need anything else about customizing reports in QBO. I'll be right here to help.

Hello, tedra1.

I'm here to guide you run a report that shows the payment you made for the customer.

The expenses or payment transactions for customers don't display in the Transaction List By Customer report. You can run the Transaction List By Date. Then, let's ensure the correct report period and expense is selected. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. In the search box, type in Transaction List By Date.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Enter the correct report period.
  5. In the Filter section, select the transaction type you wish to show on the report(such as Expense or choose all if necessary)
  6. Hit Run report.

You can check out this guide for the detailed step to customize the appearance of your report: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

In addition, I've included this resource to learn how you can review or edit transactions using the account register: Find, review, and edit transactions in account registers. Here you can find tips and steps to ensure the transaction is on the correct account.

If you have other related concerns or further questions about the payment. Click the Reply button and add any details. I'll be sure to help you.

I have made several payments to a customer. I can see them in other areas of QB, pymts correctly logged under "customer" but they dont show under his customer account..

Unfortunately, this did not help.  I'm looking for one customers transactions, not every one and this report showed all for the time frame I'm looking for.  Why doesn't Quickbooks just show the "Customer" transactions under the "Customer" section of Quickbooks.  Seems almost unreal that they don't.  Thats the number one place I would look to see where I paid a customer.  Quickbooks, this is easy fix, please do.  I can't be alone in this need to view customer payments.  Thank you.  Any other suggestions on how to find payments I made to a customer?

Thank you, this did get the information I was after.  However, I still don't understand why I have to guess my way around reports vs just being able to go to customers and see this data.  This is something QB should fix.  I can't be alone in wanting this data.  Thanks for your help.

I'm here to clear some of your confusion, tedra1.

QuickBooks Online uses a concept called Source and Targets to build transactions and data when running reports. The Filter option allows this to show the information needed. It'll include the one that matches and exclude those that aren't selected.

Also, when running reports, you can sort all the information that QuickBooks Online stores for you. While on the Customers List, you can only see the amount owe and the payment made.

Additionally, I've included these articles that'll help you learn more about report features and specific reports to get the info you need:

I'm only a post away if you have other questions or concerns about viewing your transactions in QuickBooks Online. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.
