For now, you can only search by customer's name when creating an invoice through the Plus (+) icon. Though, you can go to the Customer Center and search for the name of the company. Then, create the invoice from there. Here's how:

Your answer applies to Quickbooks Online, does it also apply to Quickbooks desktop. We run Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2019 is it the same that we cannot search by our customer's company name from within the invoice screen? In older versions you can. We are migrating from QB 2004 to 2019 and are finding that a lot of, ease of use, features are not in the newer version. Are we missing a setting somewhere or has Intuit decided to make the software less user friendly?

In QuickBooks Desktop, you can only search using customer's name within the invoice. However, the option to search invoices using customer's company name is unavailable.
