I just switched to QBO and can't find a Sales by rep detail report.

I use this report in order to pay commission.  Is there a work around for this?

Hi there, @dka0367.

I hope you're having a good day.  You're correct, QuickBooks Online currently doesn't offer the Sales Rep Detail Report. I have performed several tests in QuickBooks Online to find the best workaround for you. Follow the instructions below to build a custom report.

 1. Locate the Report tab on the left-hand side.

 2. Choose the Customer Contact List report.

 3. Let's click the page and arrow to export this report to Excel.

 5. Go back to QuickBooks and find Sales by Customer Summary report.

 6. Export this report as well.

 7. Now you can copy the address column from the exported Customer Contact List report and paste it as a new column in the exported Sales by Customer Summary. The customers and their addresses line up correctly.

Check out this excellent tutorial on Customize Reports.

I can see that the Sales by Rep detail report would be significantly useful for your business. I'm sending up a product request to have this to be considered in a future update.

Please reach out to me here if there's anything else you need, I want to ensure your success. Thanks for coming to the Community, and have a great rest of your day.

As a workaround, you can use one of three available custom fields on the sales forms (invoice and sales receipt) for Sales Rep (as a text field). And then you can run the standard Sales by Customer Detail Report, and filter Group by Sales Rep. Since this is just a text field so you will need to assign sales rep every time you create an invoice or sales receipt.

For more information, you can check out this QBO blog article.

@dka0367

If the workaround is not enough, consider using a sales commission app and integrate with your QBO.

Hope it helps.

I just switched to QBO and can't find a Sales by rep detail report.

Since this product it marketed for how easy it is to assign costs to customers and track individual employee time and mileage, how is Sales by Rep NOT a built-in feature?!

I shouldn't have to integrate 4 other programs and run 5 reports with V-lookups and pivot tables for something that should be part of the program from the beginning!!

This is the second report that I have come across that is NOT available in QB Online - for a company to be pushing its customers from the desktop version to its SaaS, we should not be going backwards.

Why we would be losing functionality on such a simple report is beyond me. When speaking with a sales person from QB, they should be well informed as to the loss of reporting functionality that occurs. The customer should not have to anticipate which questions to ask.

Very disappointing ... the data is available, just no mechanism for me to even customize the report ... and transferring multiple reports and querying in excel is not really a viable solution for such an OBVIOUS report to have as standard.
