I just upgraded from QBD to QBO. I am having problems with the Products and Services area. My items are grayed out. They appear to be active. I can't modify bundles.

I've tried turning off Norton.  Clearing my cache and running Windows Update and a whole variety of things recommended by support.  No luck.  Also, I can't see the option to create a new "Bundle" type anymore.

Actually, the 3rd tech I've talked now said, after a lengthy discussion and a total of 3-4 hours on the phone today, that the issue was that Products & Services with the "Bundle" type didn't work on Simple Start, I needed a much higher version, from Simple Start @ $15/month to Advanced @ $100/month.  And, all I am trying to do is get "bundling", or something like it, to work so I can have this detail on my room rental invoices:

1.  Short-Term Rental

2.  Sales Tax

3.  Lodging Tax

How do I keep my existing QB Desktop history intact, but make this work, preferably with Simple Start.

It seems like the QBD to QBO upgrade went pretty well.  It's just the small but vital things you need for your business that kill you.

Frustrated a bit....

I can see how you want the feature to work as you expected. Let me impart a few details on this, Peter.

Both desktop and online have different interfaces and work differently. Therefore they would never work the same way. This bundle feature is only available on the Plus and Advanced versions of QuickBooks Online (QBO). If you want to utilize products and sell them at a discounted amount, you can upgrade your subscription so you'll enjoy the option.

On the other hand, your QuickBooks Desktop file remains intact if you've created a backup copy before you moved to QBO. You can restore the backup file if you need to access some of your data in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can check out this QBO chart for comparison.

Furthermore, QuickBooks Online (QBO) offers different reports that provide the necessary data. Learn from this article for more information: Reports Included In Your QuickBooks Online Subscription.

You can always reach out to us anytime if you have further questions about bundles or anything about QBO. We're always here to help you anytime. Have a nice day!

@peter-gazelka

If you don't want to use QBO Plus, you should stay with QB Desktop.

The salespeople just want to sell me QB Desktop Enterprise.  Thank you for the advice on going to QBO Plus (or Advanced, too).  I am hoping that solves the problem.  In the various comparisons of QB products (at least the ones I've looked at) or a search via copilot.microsoft.com or Google or a review with multiple sales people (who should know their product much better than me) and techs a well reviewing the Product and Services problems...there's very, very little on this "bundle" scenario:

1.  Room Rental (short-term) [Airbnb and Other][Or other service completely]

2.  Sales Tax

3.  Lodging Tax (or some other local tax)

Fundamentally, I wish the QB sales people had real knowledge of the products.  The 3-4 I talked to had no clue.

I like QB products.  The transition has been very difficult.  I hope the most recent transition to QBO Plus fixes the issue.  BTW, I don't need a CPA to figure out QB products, that's a QB issue.  I used to be a CPA.  I've used QBD for 25 years.  This should be a little simpler.
