I prepared my 1099s but my contractors have not received them. How can I check the status? Did I miss something?

Hi there, ALLRIGGS.

I'm aware of how crucial it is for your contractors to get their 1099 forms via mail. Allow me to briefly discuss the matter with you.

Typically, the 1099 forms are postmarked or sent out by January 31st. However, the arrival time can differ based on the United States Postal Service (USPS) and the contractor's location. If your contractor hasn't received their 1099s yet, it may be due to delivery delays or unexpected and unforeseen circumstances.

With this, I recommend contacting our Customer Online Support to inquire about the forms' status. Our team can help track the forms and ensure prompt delivery to the contractors. Here's how you can reach them:

  1. Go to the Help menu and select the Search tab.
  2. Then, click Contact Us.
  3. Then, enter a brief description of your concern and select Continue.
  4. Lastly, choose either Start a Chat or Get a Callback to start connecting with them.

In the meantime, you might consider printing a copy of the 1099 forms and sending it to your contractors as an alternative.

Moreover, if you invited your contractors to enter their W9 information, they can create a free QuickBooks Self-Employed account, which they can use to review their 1099 forms after you've filed them. For more details about this, you may refer to this article: Fill out a W-9 and view your 1099-MISC in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

You can also visit our Tax forms page for more insights about adding and managing your tax forms.

Please keep us posted by replying here in the thread if you have questions or concerns about 1099 forms or other QuickBooks-related queries. I'll be here to help you and get you back to business. Take care!

My co tractors just reported that they received duplicate copies of their 1099s emailed to them on May 1st.  They are quite upset as they received them earlier this year too.  How is this possible?  Could I have triggered these duplicates being sent somehow?

I can imagine the inconvenience this has caused you and your contractors, @LisaAv. I'd like to provide some clarification and guidance on this unusual situation.

It's important to acknowledge that accidental duplicate sending of 1099 forms can happen. It's possible that the forms were inadvertently sent out twice. In such a scenario, if the duplicates contain identical information, I would suggest notifying your contractors to disregard one of the duplicates.

If you have received two copies of the 1099 form, and they contain different information, such as varying amounts or details, it is possible that one of the copies was double-printed by our third-party provider, who was responsible for sending out the 1099 forms. In this case, I suggest that you get in touch with the IRS directly to resolve the issue.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Our team is dedicated to resolving this issue and providing you with the best possible service. If you require any further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here to help.
